Yeah, to be fair, my horrible housemate has pretty terrible bathroom habits so nothing shocks me anymore. Going to ring the letting agent first thing, and try and get a viewing ASAP. Quite looking forward to it now :)

I lived in a bedsit for 3 or 4 years, had a great time, and more importantly saved up about 30K which I used as the deposit on my first place.

Only you can say if you would like it or not though.

Because my housemate is such an annoying headcase, I spend all my time in my room which is tiny, like literally eat drink entertain in here. The room is about 9x6, so being in one small room really doesnt bother me. Would be nice to have my own kitchen space aswell.

I tried a houseshare last year. Didn't work out.
I felt guilty for being online 24/7 and never leaving the house.
And I'd find myself hiding in my room until my housemate had gone out so I didn't have to speak to her (I never know what to say to people, what the protocol is when you're sharing)

She was young, gorgeous, a real socialite with about 6 different boyfriends on the go and new clothes weekly. I was old enough to be her mum, an online junkie and a hermit who wore the same set of 3-4 clothes every day no matter what the weather or occasion.

The bedsit's great. I don't have to explain my oddness to anybody. Or try to live up to some expectations that I have no idea about.

I live in a 1 bedroom flat. I've been painting the bedroom for the last week, so have moved everything into the front room. So it's like a bedsit.
It works fine, but personally I do like have a separate bedroom.
    Happy chappy

But as a boy you've got !!!!!! to hide.
I don't, so don't need a separate bedroom for any !!!!!!-fests.

Make sure you stock up on Morrisey CDs and Pot Noodles.
  • I've just moved into a bedsit after having lived in a boarding house for 10 years and it's heaven. I have my own bathroom/toilet/laundry as well as a good sized separate kitchen. The actual bed/sitting room is 180 sq feet (10' x 18') while the bathroom/toilet/laundry & kitchen total :117 sq feet (6.5' x 18') It's approximately the same living space as the boarding house without the bathroom and kitchen which were shared. The sharing was disgusting as some of the other lodgers lived like pigs and refused to clean up after they used the amenities in spite of many warnings and threats by the manager who never followed up with action.
    Now I'm in heaven.
To live in a bedsit you must enjoy your own company and have an imagination when it comes to arranging/designing furniture. IKEA have some great bunk bed/computer desk/bookcase combinations which can easily be copied or purchased if you're flush. It also helps to have a large park or common area at your front door, especially if you have a dog. I do. If you entertain lots of people forget about a bedsit.
I like to have all my stuff (bed, books, computer, TV etc in one room within my reach. Having other rooms which are empty most of the day seems like a waste of space and a bit spooky so a bedsit is actually what I requested when hunting for a flat. As most people don't like them I found what I wanted very quickly.

Do you not share anything? isn't that a studio then. I've lived in flat/house shares before but not bedsits.
