Much better than AVG in my opinion.
Agreed. As a user of AVG for the last 3 years & reading certain negative comments about v8, swapping to Avast was easy & it's UI is great.Time is a concept of relativity, yet as a concept, relativity is timeless.0 -
I have the free AVG 8.0, and its got the anti-spyware built in. Hate the new link scanner though-disabled it almost straight away.
I used to run AVG anti-spyware manually. With 8.0 does it scan and remove spyware automatically?
Also, why do I not have an icon in the tray as I used to? I get a pop-up when it scans email but there used to be a permanent icon there to show it was running.
Apologies: I know you people are fed up to the back teeth of stupid AVG questions

You mean aside from AVG being bloated piece of "software"? Avast is less resource intensive and is more efficent at scanning. It also tends to score better than AVG in Antivirus tests. AVG looks prettier but thats about it...
I've also noticed that since version 7 of AVG I suddenly got a lot of false positives - which really annoys me, since AVG decides to lock up the file(s) and never let me use them again!
The only downside with Avast is you have to register it (even though registration is free) and you have to do that once a year... small pain for a much better product though!Faith is believing what you know ain't so...0 -
