Assuming that the virus database isn't out of date, I think this might happen if the system time is incorrect. Check the clock at the bottom-right of your screen. If the time is correct, hover over the clock to check that the date is correct too.
If necessary you can double-click on the clock to set the time/date correctly.
Hope this helps...0 -
It's AVG AntiSpyware and AntiRootkit that are no longer free. They are now integrated bundles in the commerical edition. AVG still has a free edition AV.0

I have the free AVG 8.0, and its got the anti-spyware built in. Hate the new link scanner though-disabled it almost straight away.Out of my mind. Back in 5 minutes.0 -

It's funny that you should mention the clock as, when this computer was delivered and set up, the clock was wrong and the instructions for putting it right were so long winded I decided not to bother. Then, strangely, the clock just came right. Also, another funny thing I have just discovered, hovering over the time no longer tells me the date. It did up to a short time ago?? But, I am inclined to agree that the anti- virus data base is NOT out of date. Thank you anyway.0 -

Much better than AVG in my opinion.
Could you give more information about why you think they're better please? I'm looking to change from AVG since upgrading to version 8 trashed my kernel. (Not pleased about all the re-installation I'm having to do, either!)0 -
Q. How do you confuse an idiot.
A. Send them an AVG update pop-up.
Works every time!
Cap ... fits ... wearing it!!!
Yup, that's me you're talking about!!! Doh!!!

avast is very good since it works and picks up most infections .. i suggest occassionally run another anti virus product such as bitdefender/or one of the above (also free) just in case avast is missing detections but exit from avast since 2 antivirus programmes dont work effectively together.
webroots spysweeper is very good if you can find a trial version to occassionally look for malware/anti virus/etc0 -
I have a problem with AVG free I might add. It was set to do updates at a regular time, but now I just get pop ups saying it is out of date and fix it urgently.Problem is, I dont know how to set it to update when it has run out as I didnt install it in the first place and cant see anywhere on the update site to set this.Sorry, can anybody understand my garble and help me please. You live..You learn.:)0
