UPVC assistance required urgently !!

Hi
Am hoping that a couple of the regulars who I know are UPVC installers are lurking.
I have just started having some UPVC installed and am a bit worried about a couple of the windows that have been fitted. Basically they fit fine outside but there is a problem inside. The top of the window frame is almost totally obscured by the internal casement. Once a trim has been fitted one of the windows will have lost its internal frame surround altogether. Am I fussing over nothing or is this normal ?

One other area of indecision is the external finish around the windows. They are set quite well in and the choice is 2 inch plastic trimming to the magnolia external rendered finish or rendering to the window frame and painting. What do the experts suggest ?
Cheers
Rob

Ok its not too bad or brill, what they should of done is plane the bottom of the fram
a bit as they look a touch oversized, or it just could be the depth of wood
on the head of the window reveal. As it looks like an old georgian window fram inside.
External finish, should always be original where ever possible so render if its already render, by the way did the beads that hold the glass in go on inside or the outside of the house, in otherwords can you see the beads from inside the room.0 -
Hmmmmm Im a joiner, So i would criticise the way these windows have been measured, and subsequently fabricated. I would personally ask them to take them away and remake them....You should have a minimum of 45mm of the internal frame showing or at least an equal amount all around otherwise they look like a 'Bodged job'.In this trusted place U can erase

Are you thinking of people being able to remove the glass and gain entry?
The photos? Those windows are shoddy. They need to be remade.0 -
I wouldn,t accept them.0

Well its common practice now to have the beading on the inside
for that exact reason, as new windows have a captive gasket
that is seeable from the outside as a black strip and the beads on
the inside, so a bead cant be lifted.
However it is really hard to get a bead of from the outside as the
inside of the window fram will have a removable wedge gasket.
New style notice the seal on the inside of the frame.
Old style would have this on the outside of the frame.

Hi,
I agree totally with newfunk!
That workmanship is terrible, they have obviously measured the windows incorrectly.
Have this firm that fit the windows mentioned fensa at all?0 -
You mean the piece that your arrow 'almost' reaches is removable to fit/remove the glass (I am confused what you mean by beading, gasket, black strip. I would call the silicone the beading) ? Yes, on old windows these are outside I had noticed. Bad really0

Beading is the piece of wood/upvc(dependant on what window is made of) that keeps the glass in...Silicon eis only used to bed the glass in on wooden double glazed windowsIn this trusted place U can erase

It's either my eyes. Or the second photo shows a badly fitted window. It looks like they haven't blocked behind the frame to stop it going out of shape at the top when they tightened the frame fixer. It looks out of shape to me.
This is not a good job. They should have used extention headers. They should have included at least a 30mm extension at the top of this window. This would have kept the whole frame fitting perfectly on the outside, and given a perfectly even finish all around the frame on the inside.
An extention is like a wide H shaped piece of UPVC that clips onto the outside of the UPVC frame. Your situation is a perfect example of when it should be used.
The external finish is really a matter of personal choice. You should decide for yourself what you think will look best. My choice would normally be to match the building as much as possible. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Hang on Guys dont forget the head of the reveal is made of wood thus adding
about an xtra inch to the inside look, as windows are always taken from an outside measurement, If the wood surround was taken off I bet it would look fine.0
