    Hi woodbine,
I'm about to do it again, lol. I was talking about DLA. I was awarded middle care & high mobility in Sept 02, my 1st review was in Sept 07 (5 years) and the following was taken from the letter received from DWP regarding my DLA:-

'A further incapacity assessment will be made at a future date to ensure that you continue to meet the threshold of incapacity under the PCA. Your case is due to come up for a normal review on __/__/2012. We may contact you again after that date and you may be asked to fill in another questionnaire or be called for a medical examination.
We may contact you sooner if anything changes that could affect your entitlement'

As you can see, this is another 5 years from the last review.
I do claim IB, but this has been for a lot longer than the DLA. I haven't got a clue as to what a PCA is but as long as I pass the review I'm grateful.
I hope you're not too confused or perplexed now.

    Regards,

    kpwll
  • but you dont have to be assessed under the PCA for DLA
the PCA is a personal capabilty assessment which assesses your fitness(or not )for work, therefore it cant be connected to your DLA as this can be paid if you work or not

    Hi again,
Sorry then, my mistake. I thought when they were talking about 15 points it was DLA. I did warn you that I confuse ppl, it's because I'm confused myself.

    Regards,

my son got awarded high rate in both 4 years ago,it lasts until feb 2009 then we haVE TO RE-APPLY,although my son is no better(never will be) infact since the last claim hes been diagnozsed as being autistic, along with all his other problems, and he had a hip operation 2 years ago the ball was coming out of the socket,so needed to pin it in,he has to go back in the summer and get plate out, when we have to re-apply he,ll be 12 and reading all the stories here about how randon the awards are iam very worried he,ll not get high rate in both again as we had to appeal 1st time

if his current claim runs out in feb 09 the forms will be sent for the renewal around sept.08(around 6 months before its due),they normally tell you that you have 1 month to return the form, but dont let them rush you,but keep in mind most renewals take around 12 weeks from receipt by dla.,send it back registered post, and photo copy every page before returning it for future reference
  • AFAIK DWP destroy application forms 3 months (i think) after successful award or non appealed rejection. Hence need to reapply in full every time AND why when you see fakers in the press they are only prosecuted for a period usually relating to that since last claim as DWP have no record of exactly what was claimed previously, just which components have been awarded most recently.

    You are correct.

I cannot remember how long they keep DLA forms but it is certainly years rather than 3 months!
