  • Hi,

Thought this needed a 'bump' - I need some ideas to entertain 20ish kids am about to go to wilkos and tesco in search of stuff but any ideas gratefully received.

Tried TKMaxx for games but couldn't find any :(

    Help!

  • This is inspired! We only have a few kids coming, and I was going to suggest getting them cameras, but this is a MUCH better idea! I love it!

    Thanks for bumping!

Okay - my packs are for 25 children aged between 1 and 14.

For everyone, I did a photo challenge. I got Polaroid Flash instant cameras for under £1 delivered from Ebay (as they were about 1 year outdated - but work fine as we tested one). The older children have a challenge with 15 items and the kids under 5 have one with 5 items. I've written on the cards that they can keep the cameras so the bride doesn't end up with 25 cameras of kiddies photos to develop.

Also in each pack is at least one activity sticker book (Disney/Power Rangers/Beano/Bratz etc) all 99p each or a couple were £1.99 from Wilkinsons. I also got packs of colouring pencils four little pots for £1 and some novelty rings and litte cars for the 5-10 year olds.

Also - everyone has a pencil and a little gift like a highlighter or rubber etc which were from packs that came from £1 shops.

I also made a bridal wordsearch and printed it on card for anyone aged 5+ (I used a program for doing this off the net).

Instead of gift bags - which were a fortune - I've used large self-seal cellophane bags and am attaching a bow that co-ordinates with the bride's colour (white and gold) - all off Ebay.

Lastly - I've labled all the packs with clear labels decorated with wedding clip art and got them free from Avery as testers.

All the packs are now complete. I've spent around £3 each, but they look a lot more than that (I can post piccies if anyone is interested as they are all sitting in my living room atm!)

For someone who's never set foot in a £1 shop before two months ago - I didn't think I'd done too badly lol

    ^piccies would be great!

we're having a silent wedding (ceremony will only last an hour) & no reception so having the camera challenge may not work so i'm just going to have a little table for all the kiddies with colouring books/crayons, if they had something to take away that would be great

    What's a silent wedding?

It all works out good in the end.

Thanks for the wordsearch idea Mr Cow.

I've just created one and will get it printed off during the week.

I have some of those fortune teller fish for my party bags - have bought a few extra so the adults don't nick them - lol

the room is silent (ideally) while the ceremony is going on, just so the priest can do the wedding quickly and he'll speak to the audience and tell them whats going on e.g. all the steps and what they mean

Anyone looking for outdoor toys there seems to be a fair few in the sale at Sainsburys, things like crazy golf seem pretty wedding-safe. I'm a bit reluctant to get anything involving hitting or throwing balls/discs over a distance in case of damage to anyone/thing.
Got married 23rd May 2009, many thanks to all on the Weddings and Anniversaries board for their help and support!
