  • The more I think about this the more I am freaked out:
Thinking aloud here Radio 2 listeners are not the type to use coupons my dad listens to radio 2 and there is no way he would use coupons also not as likely to have internet access.
But if he goes on to GMTV 10's of thousands will desend on the supermarkets with DM coupons, photocopies, even the thousands of genuine coupons could be a problem.
OMG it could be all over completely policy cancelled by HO.
Now I'm quite new on here and I know there are plenty of regulars who have been couponing for years and maintaining this thread etc so i think I'm going to hand to over to you guys to decide if to do anything as I don't thinks it's not upto me being new.
    But ideas I have had:
    1) Do nothing keep fingers crossed.
    2) PM Martin and explain situation
    3) Temporarily delete 1st post for a week or so to see if he goes on GMTV
to minimise damage (not in the spirit of the site I know but no good to anyone if they stop taking them)
    What is everyones thoughts?
    AKA: PC

    ...
Rest in Peace Fred the Maddest Muppet in Heaven
  • Hey, Princess Coupon, not all Radio 2 listeners are computer dinosaurs! I'm in my late thirties (OK, nearly 40 now) and have listened to Radio 2 for years. I'd like to think that I'm reasonably techy/'with it' - though have to admit that most work colleagues/friends do think I am a bit weird at times!!
Seriously though, don't freak out and try to cross a bridge until you come to it - maybe coupons as we know them will come to an end (hopefully not), but maybe they will. And in any case, isn't all that Martin was doing is trying to help people? Isn't that what this whole site/forum is about? Lets just 'share the love' and be nice to each other and share the goodness...........
I'm also new to coupons and am loving it, though I do limit myself to 3 or 4 coupons in any one shop, subject to the cashier accepting them (sometimes its only 1, but that is better than none)
All things do change in the end, but who knows what money saving idea Martin will think of next?

Maybe Tesco will be happy to accept loads of coupons as they receive more than the face value of the coupon. So as long as the coupons are legitimate Tesco would probably prefer coupons to cash!!;)

Thanks for this and is there any chance you could reload these please - file download reached. Cheers.

P.S. Although I do share everyone's panic over the possible withdrawal of internet coupon acceptance, I agree with the posting above. Essentially the spirit of the site/forum is to benefit as many people as possible - so perhaps we should just be thankful when our coupons are accepted for as long as it lasts. I have only recently discovered this site and still can't believe my luck when my coupons are accepted. Long may it last but we are not Martin's chosen few.

Just wanted to ask you if you have had any problems getting your coupons accepted at the big Tesco near the town centre? I have had difficulty getting mine accepted there? Thanks.

I have only ever encountered problems once at the large store in Wigan Town Centre. Beleive it or not that was when the checkout manager served me and he said they didn't take coupons. I nicely pointed out to him that they had been taking them for the previous 6 weeks or so. He went off and asked the girl on the CS desk whether he could accept them or not!! He did accept them and then promptly didn't bother to scam my clubcard, so when I went to CS to get my points added she asked if I was the customer with the coupons, I said yes and she said what a joke it was that the management didn't know what they were doing! I obviously agreed:rotfl:

I think the best thing to do is always shop with your coupons when they are busy, they seem to accept anything to prevent a queue from forming.

"As from Monday, Tesco will be charging for their carrier bags, and its a nationwide policy".

Obviously how true it is, I dont know, but prewarned is prearmed.(or stock up now)

Hi all. I work for tesco.
We are not charging for carrier bags. But from Mon 28th July bags will no longer be available at the end of the tills. instead you will have to provide ur own, buy the strong reuseable bags or ask a C.A for the crappy plastic bags.

My store still has them at the end of the till.
