Thinking aloud here Radio 2 listeners are not the type to use coupons my dad listens to radio 2 and there is no way he would use coupons also not as likely to have internet access.
But if he goes on to GMTV 10's of thousands will desend on the supermarkets with DM coupons, photocopies, even the thousands of genuine coupons could be a problem.
OMG it could be all over completely policy cancelled by HO.
Now I'm quite new on here and I know there are plenty of regulars who have been couponing for years and maintaining this thread etc so i think I'm going to hand to over to you guys to decide if to do anything as I don't thinks it's not upto me being new.
But ideas I have had:
1) Do nothing keep fingers crossed.
2) PM Martin and explain situation
3) Temporarily delete 1st post for a week or so to see if he goes on GMTV
to minimise damage (not in the spirit of the site I know but no good to anyone if they stop taking them)
What is everyones thoughts?
What always amazes me is that people worry about tesco. Tesco never lose always remember that it's the individual companies that lose because they are paying cash to tesco when they're products haven't been sold. I for one redeem as many coupons as I can and in no way whatsoever feel any shame in what I do because just seeing the coupon is advertising and makes us aware of the product that we may not have seen otherwise. However on occasions I have seen coupons to print on here that are from very small companies and these are the ones that I would not use because if thousands of us printed them and redeemed them in tesco the small company may not be able to fund the event even then tesco don't lose they still get the cash.
So what I'm trying to say is that Martin declaring coupon use to the world (in my opinion) will not make any difference to the tesco policy it will just as usual make more profits for tesco because more people will shop there! Rant over.0 -

Thank you

I phoned the Waitrose in Stourbridge a couple weeks ago and I was told that they will accept coupons without buying the product so long as they stock the item, I haven't actually been shopping there yet to try it out in person though. I intend on going to the one in Wolverhampton next week though so fingers crossed! I would suggest you phone your local store and ask them.Murphy knows me too well and sticks to me like glue!0 -

Don't feel sorry for the small companies, they don't lose out. When they put coupons on the internet or print them in magazines, leaflets, on the product, etc. they have a set amount or a cap on how many coupons they will allow to be printed so when the cap the is reached the coupon is withdrawn from the internet (when they are printed in magazines, etc. they only print so many too). This is why it states that photocopies are not allowed, they state on them that it is fraud, as the company has not authorized them as part of their coupon campaign budget. This is why they only allow us to print 1 or 2 on couponnet. The ones we can print loads of is also taken into account as part of the coupon campaign budget but they go by the expiration date, at the end of the coupon campaign they add up how much the campaign cost them and that is taken off whatever they set aside for their coupon campaigns for the year. Hope this info is of some help to you.
I, myself, use every coupon I can in each shopping trip. You never know when they will stop the liberal coupon taking policy so best to use them while you can!Murphy knows me too well and sticks to me like glue!0 -

I went into my local T's with a tiny shop of £8 and handed over my coupons to my usual friendly SA.
I had a few coupons left so I handed those over too and he said, we're not allowed to take them, we're only allowed to take up to half the shopping value. We get into trouble.
I explained that he won't get into trouble and asked him to call the supervisor, who dutifully came over. I explained the Tesco Coupon Policy and showed her the Tesco Policy that my friendly TL gave me and the email from head office. She said, I'm not going to argue with you, what you're saying is correct and then told the SA to accept them.
It seems that some TLs are still telling their cashiers off though. Have promised to drop a copy of the policy in for my friendly SA so next time he gets told off by his unhelpful TL that he can prove he's adhering to the Tesco Policy.
Was the first time I'd had to use the Policy since I'd been given it!

PS so glad I checked on here before shopping today, could have spent an extra £5 if I'd missed out on the NOTW thread.

Correct. In fact Tesco & Co make extra money in most cases because of the handling allowance they get paid by the coupon issuer.0 -

Hello
I expect you all know this anyway, but just in case: I phoned my local Waitrose this morning to see what their policy is on vouchers (internet & otherwise).
They told me they're quite happy to take vouchers (internet or whatever) and you DON'T have to buy the product. There's no limit to the number of vouchers you can use.
So this afternoon I decided to try it.
Sure enough, the obliging young man on the checkout took the fistful I gave him and swiped the lot. Those that wouldn't swipe, he patiently typed in manually.
I know the products cost more than Tesco, but I've got to say that the whole experience was much nicer than some of my recent voucher experiences at the local Tesco (ie where I've been made to feel like a criminal for daring to try and use a voucher, even though I've a letter from head office).0 -
Hello again
Our local Tesco has Cordoniu Rose Cava in a gift-box on special offer at £5.49 (instead of £10.49).
If you still have a Marie Claire voucher, you could get this for £3.29 (roughly 1/3 of the original cost) - not bad for an Xmas prezzie or even a present to yourself.0 -
