Don't worry, no such thing as a stupid question on here!
Yes, they scan just the same and are programmed into the till at a set amount, which can sometimes be higher than the amount you were expecting, as Tesco sell it cheaper.
See post 1178, if the barcode ends in 150X, then it'll come up as £1.50 off, 'X' being the last digit, or check digit as it is known. HTH
Thanks Josie, will try these coupons at Tesco's tomorrow.
Does anyone know if there will be any money off coupons for Tesco in the News of The World this weekend???0 -

I went to Asda tonight armed with a copy of their policy which a great person put on the first post.
After the experience I had at Tesco last week, where I also left the stuff at the checkout when they wouldn't accept the coupons, I was all ready for a bit of a argument. Anyway, I took quite a few cos I was gonna buy a phone at £17, but they had none in stock so all I bought was some flowers at £4.98. I decided I'd try to use all the small one's I had, which she checked and a couple where Tesco only, which she said we cannot use (nicely) so cheekily I said oh I've got a couple more as well if you'll take them. She said yes, sure and took 2 x £1. Alll she said was that they have been told to check them carefully that they aren't other store specified. Anyway, I used £3.05. Two bunches of flowers for £1.73 :T
For info, Asda Wakefield. :jBe thankful for what you have because it could all be taken away tomorrow.;)

I received the standard coupons policy from customer service, so I have then sent them another e mail asking if it would be possible for me to e mail my local stores to find out their individual policy. I thought this would solve the problem of different supervisors on and each one having a different policy. Anyway, I will let you know if I get a responseBe thankful for what you have because it could all be taken away tomorrow.;)

Hello Princess Coupon
I "bought" the actual shake in Tesco, and when the coupon was scanned the SA was asked by the till to enter the price, which he looked up on his screen.
Hope that helps0 -
This is the Tesco coupon policy I received (similiar to other peoples) and the e mail I have sent, which when I receive a reply, I will post.
Thank you for your email.
I have detailed below some information on the acceptance of coupons in our stores which I hope will help you.
All Tesco specific coupons display the Tesco logo. We'll only accept these at the till if you buy the product shown on the coupon at the time.
We're happy to accept a non-Tesco product coupon even if you don't buy the item. But, the coupon must be in date and Tesco must sell the product. If you present more than one identical coupon you need to purchase the same number of products. This also includes coupons printed from the Internet, but these will only be accepted at the discretion of the Store Manager.
I hope this has helped to explain things for you.
Dear Sirs,
Thank you for your quick reply to my question regarding your coupon policy.
The policy does not say if there is a limit on the amount in money of coupons which can be used.
Could you advise me if it would be possible for me to e mail your stores in my region (approx 4, Leeds, Barnsley and Batley) so that I can find out their individual policy, so that I can then take the copy with me when I go shop there?
The problem I and many others are finding is that the shop is saying no and then pointing out the "at the Managers Discretion" part of the e mail, when your policy is shown to them.
Our forum is wondering why the managers at different stores have different policies and obviously, don't want to keep getting embarrassed every other time we shop.
Yours sincerely,
Be thankful for what you have because it could all be taken away tomorrow.;)

Just returned from shopping at Asda Ellesmere Port and used some printed money off coupons SA took them at first no problem then when giving me my change decided better of it and called a supervisor. I was told they would accept the coupons this time but no more printed coupons and from now on will only accept those cut out of magazines. When I asked why I was told because they can not distinguish between internet printed and photo copied0

Not exactly a discount this, but Tesco are giving away a jar of Maxwell House coffee for every £30 spent in store. Not sure if this offer is on everywhere and not sure how long offer will last, the banner at my local store said "in store today".
Anyhow, the very helpful cashier could see I had quite a large shop this week and suggested I split it into two lots of around £30 so I got 2 free jars of coffee:T0
