It's more or less exactly the same apart from the speed, but I should imagine would be perfectly adequate for you for general home use, unless you intend networking several machines and transferring a lot of data between them!
You want to be looking for the DG834G, same model number but without the T on the end
This is the one at Broadbandbuyer again - they're a good company to deal with, but feel free to check prices elsewhere!"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Got my DG834G from Amazono in January. They are now doing them with a free USB adapter again  . http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000TZ8Z8/pricerunner-21/ref%3Dnosim/026-6218261-4690022
As Curry_Queen says, this model should be more than adequate for home set up. Home broadband connections are at the most 2Mbps (unless you can get 8!) so 54 Mbps is plenty unless you are into file sharing between networks. This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!

You want either:
USB wireless adapter - fits in a USB slot on your laptop or PC
PCI wireless adapter - fits inside your PC
PCMCIA/Cardbus wireless card - fits in PCMCIA/Cardbus slot in your laptop
See Ebuyer Wireless Networking products and browse menu on left hand side with the above device types.0 -
Thanks Chippie, and everyone else that gave their imput!!!!!0

If you don't feel you could fit an internal PCI wireless card on your pc I suggest the USB option!0

if you check the netgear forum you will fund that the 108 version has problems running at 108mbps and tends to drop to 54mbps. a lot of people seem to have this problem.
i have the 54mbps netgear and its fine and cheaper0 -
If you use the 108 mode you are limited to a particular pair of channels. It is possible that reception issues are more likely in this mode.
I use the WG511T with my laptop that came bundled with my DG834G without any problems. You do need to update the drivers for native WPA support.Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:

I have this exact router Susi.
I have had not one problem with it at all. IT is a brilliant piece of kit. Really straight forward and easy to set up. Some advanced technical things for ADSL setup but should be straight forward! If not you can email or PM me!
I can give you screenshots of what the configs and setup should look like for when you set it up.
As i said its a brilliant router, easy to use, top notch.
