One Tel

I recently switched to One Tel (http://www.onetel.co.uk/index.php/landlineplans ). I now pay my line rental to NTL, and my calls to One Tel, for free weekend calls, and up to an hour for 5p after six. If you sign up online they also give a credit £20. I have drastically cut my call costs. I think I will have saved (including the £20 credit) nearly £200 pa. Switch now to the free monthly option. They send a free box to route the calls. The calls are also cheaper than NTL & BT. Hope this helps someone.

  • Looks like a fairly good deal!!

If you use onetel for your free calls and 18866 for any 'non free' calls you will save even more!! With 18866 you will only pay 1 p for local or national calls. Thats not 1 p /minute that is 1 p. They are also the cheapest for mobile calls. If you call internationally however you need to use somebody else as the deal you have with onetel has fairly pricy international rates and 18866 have just put up their int rates!!

It can be a hassle using different providers for different calls but money saving is what this site is all about!!

I was previously with one tel and felt i was getting a good deal, however they overcharged me twice to the sum of £64.00 due to an error which was taken by DD, now i can't even get them to reply to my emails let alone refund my money.
Suffice to say i've now left and gone to Talk Talk and use 18866, due to recommendations on here.

But, IIRC, those on cable landlines using 18866 can't use the 18866 dial prefix directly but have to dial via the freephone number - 0808 170 77 88.

A little more hassle, but worth it.

I was fairly happy with one tel for a number of years, then all of a suden things went wrong, overcharging me then hell to get the money back ( i still havent) it was there error and they had their debt colectors ringing me up, dont press 1471 as you will be charged by your regular supplier, I did this on an overseas call and nearly died when I got the bill off NTL, just be careful I dont think they can cope with the demand!

Hi, what I meant with the 1471 is it doesnt go through on-tel it will revert back to your original providor, like i said at my expense of a long call to Saudi, which i assumed went through one tel. I have jsut had my revised bill offf them and am more angry than ever as they have slapped a late payment charge of £5 which they aint getting as its there fault my bill was wrong, last month a late payment charge was £2 with them, also they have changed the numbers you call them about any number of things to 0845, I think one tel is going down the pan, I am dreading ringing them as I know I will be passed from pillar to post and get no where! >:(

I don't know what time of day you made that call or which package you are on with OneTel but, as the cheapest rate they appear to offer for calls to Saudi Arabia is 28p/minute, I'm pretty sure you could make a massive saving by using a dial-through number - on which you could pay as little as 3p per minute for calls to Saudi Arabia.
