Do you know the amounts for buildings and contents if it's not too personal.

Yeah, IIRC it was something like £60k contents and £300k buildings. Both these figures were picked as fairly clear overestimates of the actual values to avoid any problems of underinsurance.

I think it's pretty staggering that you can insure such figures for less than £2 per week.

    Yep me too.

I have similar cover but pay about 5 times that.
I have tried shopping around but a lot of standard cover will not give those limits which rules out a lot of cashback sites.

    I'll definitely try AIG.

    Thanks

I think AIG cater for up to £600k buildings and £100k contents for online quotes.

I tried their website "AIG direct".
It said they couldn't quote me on-line.

Hmm, might just be some part of the area rating that prevents the online quote.

You can get good cover cheaply for large houses if you're lucky enough to live in a low risk area. My parents got buildings+contents for a 5-bed house/double garage/extended through AIG for less than £100 after cashback.

Just noticed this thread. I did a quote earlier today with AIG for a 3 bed semi... £265, plus cashback £45 total £220 (tried to do buildings and contents separately but it worked out much more) We aren't in a known high crime area...this seems about the average good quote too, certainly haven't found anyone cheaper. Cashback is good for small houses or flats though. ;)
