Home insurance for £5

How is this for a bargain. Took out home contents insurance with the Post Office. Annual premium cost £57 but they had a cashback offer of £25 back 3 months after the policy is taken out. I went through Quidco and got £27 cashback. Cost of premium £5 !! Awaiting payment for both amounts but has been agreed so should work out OK.
Started comping February 2012

Sounds excellent.
£57 sounds very cheap, as you sure you have adequate cover?0 -
hi i got my buildings and contents insurance free.
I got a quote with prudential contents was £63 and building was £74 i did them on 2 seperate policies and got £75 cashback through quidco on both policies. So not only did i get it free but i got money in my pocket aswell.0 -
Where on earth do you people live, some island with no other inhabitants? Post Office quoted me over £600 for mine, which was double my renewal premium with First Direct.0

I think it depends whether you have a 1 bed flat or a 5 bed house with double garage and extension plus conservatory.
Also whether you have multiple TVs, computers, gym equipement, snooker room, home cinema etc. or whether you live in a bedsit with the basics.
Also I am not totally convinced that everyone has as much insurance as they need, hence my earlier comment.0 -
I'm in the cheapest band for contents and you can get very basic cover for about £60 year on contents only. It may not be very good cover but its cheap.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Anyone know if the cashbacks are still paid if you pay the premium monthly rather than one up front payment

TIA for any response. If many little people, in many little places, do many little things,

They pay the cashback for taking the policy - whether or not you take a loan to pay for the policy doesn't make any difference.0

You can get good cover cheaply for large houses if you're lucky enough to live in a low risk area. My parents got buildings+contents for a 5-bed house/double garage/extended through AIG for less than £100 after cashback.0

Do you know the amounts for buildings and contents if it's not too personal. My parents got buildings+contents for a 5-bed house/double garage/extended through AIG for less than £100 after cashback.0
