Hi strumpet - thanks for posting! Wow - you must've been bored at work to read all of this!! :rotfl:But seriously I really appreciate your post especially at the moment as things are feeling a bit rocky. You are right - there are lots of ideas and things to do to get out of the mess we are in - and I just need to knuckle down and do it.

Has been a weird day. Spoke to a colleague I haven't seen for a while to discover that her sister (who must've been in her early 40s) had just died suddenly - no illness, in fact she spoke to her in the evening and everything was normal - three hours later she was dead. They think allergic reaction to something. Awful. And once again (following so soon after Weller's tragedy) just makes me think how important it is for us to make the most of NOW. Debt or no debt we have to live.

Then I spoke to a senior colleague who was encouraging me to apply for a vacancy at work which would be a major step up from now - but a lot of responsibility too. Part of me would love to try - the other part thinks - yikes!
No guarantee at all I would even be considered but now I have to decide whether to even go for it.

I really wish I could work out what I want to do with my life!!!! :rotfl:
  • why not apply for it and then see how you feel about it all afterwards. At least you wouldn't have missed out on an opportunity, plus it may get you towards your goals a bit quicker.

Thanks for the welcome Mizmir - I think you should go for that job too - you'll always be wondering "what if?" otherwise! And a change is as good as a rest as they say.

I had a bit of bad luck this morning - I failed an exam I took in May - just got the results. I knew I'd failed it if I am homest because it was very hard but today I found out that I failed it by 2%. So that's anoth £61 to resit - fotunately work pays, but still!!!

So treating myself to a Pimms, whilst I catch up on your world!

Sorry about the exam strumpet - 2% makes it very frustrating! But at least you know you are only a whisker away which is encouraging for next time.
You are right on the job in one way guys - the only thing to lose on applying is time - but unfortunately it is one of those jobs that'd probably take me 3 days to do the application for! And I really don't know if I want a job with longer hours than I have now - barely see oh and dogs as it is! But it has thrown me a bit as I find that aspects of the job I thought I had decided I didn't want to do are in fact things I miss in my current role. So I definitely have some soul searching to do. I will definitely make an appointment to have the "informal discussion" about it though.

Must go - off to London again this morning.

I agree with the others on the job - if you get it, and you don't want it, you just turn it down. If you don't get it, well it is not a problem because you weren't looking for it in the first place.

But if you don't apply.......you don't get to find out whether you would have got it, and if you do decide in due course that you should have applied, it is too late.

(I think - too early in the morning :o )

I'll take the opposite view from everyone else and say if you don't wholeheartedly want it, don't bother applying. I say this from my own experience - I have several times got jobs that I didn't really want and it is hard to extricate yourself without offending people.

You have said many times here that you want less stress, more time with OH and dogs - why go for something that you know will take you the opposite direction. Let this one go, and some other better opportunity will come up in its place.

Edited to add a little saw I learned from my mother: "If there's any doubt, then there's no doubt at all."
