Thanks for the reminder about the footie - that is a cheery thought - will be able to do lots of matched betting then! Illnesses are long term conditions which have just been worse than usual - migraines becoming more regular and lasting longer, a gastric disorder having a flareup. They are stress related so no doubt the answer is in my hands - need to reduce the stress in my life! Am trying but is a vicious circle of course. But I have decided to stop pushing so hard (as I was - at the moment am not pushing at all!) - and settle on a slower but hopefully surer plan. I have listed all the things that I need to take in hand in my life: work, debts, budgets, clutter, garden, extra earning, fitness (or lack of it), health, dogs (training, future plans etc). Now I need to work out a doable plan of action for each. I have a big notebook (surplus from work so free :)) and I will write them all in there for now - unless I can find a better way to keep track. Kind of like a huge flylady organiser for my whole life!
Will set "basic" and "extra" targets for each - basic that are definitely doable with just a bit of effort or which have to be achieved (like paying minimum payments) - extras which will take more effort. Sounds rather anal I know but I need some way of keeping track otherwise I am all over the place!

    So things to do today:
    • [strike]decent dog walk [/strike] DONE - a lovely 4 mile walk with only one soaking en route
    • [strike]mow lawn[/strike] DONE - cheating as OH is doing it as we speak :A
    • catch up with diaries and MSE
    • check online banking and work out current snowball position
    • update budget
    • check house insurance at comparison sites (up for renewal next month)
    • start putting together targets
    • clean up item for ebay

What you say makes perfect sense, and I think is a very good way forward. I am forever brainstorming various areas of my life in my notebooks/diary, and it is a very good outlet for ideas/plans/sheer bloody nonsense.

Sometimes (as in the last couple of weeks for example) it still gets on top of me and I feel as though I am wading through treacle, but generally it is all working in the right direction, so I will continue to do so this way.

I agree with Hypno too.I think that is a great idea to have a more realistic goal and not to push yourself too far especially if it's going to make you ill.

Well am up to date with diaries as far as is possible with the speed things move on here. But good to catch up. Awful to hear about weller - as many have said puts everything into perspective. Am going to make "spend plenty of time with OH" one of my absolute essentials - it is just too easy to get caught up with stuff - work, money, all of it - and lose sight of the important things. Time is the only thing we can't get back. Has anyone read about Randy Pausch or seen his lecture/book? Well worth it. He is in his early 40s and father to three very young children - and he has terminal pancreatic cancer. He is spending the time he has left building memories and messages for them from him - one of which is a lecture he gave (he is a university professor). It is very humbling and inspiring - about achieving dreams. One thing he says which is so true is that money if it is lost or wasted can be earned again but time if it is lost or wasted is gone. Google him if you haven't come across it.

Talk to you later. Dinner to prepare and eat with OH before anything else on list.
  • Glad to see you back on on form with list things and targets..i missed them you know, and your little pushes.

I can sympathise with feeling poorly and not posting as well..it does sort of focus your mind on here and i get so much inspiration from everyone else's ideas as well.

I enjoyed a nice walk today and may well go out for another as well along the canal..it is my favourite place for brooding and thinking things over..
I am going to google that chap as well..he sounds just the ticket for a boost about life..you are right on that.

Well didn't make a lot more progress with list yesterday but had a relaxing evening with OH instead so not bothered - will do a little later this evening. Out today doing charity event with dog club - glorious sunshine and clear blue skies here at the moment so hope it stays this way! Have a great day everyone.

Wow. You're right, mizmir, the important "things" in life are our people. I get that mix wrong all the time, but I keep going back to it, keep working on it. Like trying to see my nephew yesterday - I didn't give him enough notice, so he wasn't at home (I had a work meeting two blocks away from him in London) - but at least we had a lot of texts back and forth, and me and my brother too. I'm going to be thinking about that today, thank you.
