I'm right in the fact that you are going to be self -employed aren't you?...in that case buy a vehicle suitable for the dogs as you can claim the costs back (if you bought it specifically for the business) even if it is a few months before you start as it's a setting up cost....the small business advice link may be able to give you advice...just a thought.
I'm not sure of the exact details but I have read it somewhere. It may even have been in the tax section on here and maybe in the bits that are above it written by an accountant....a lot of people use business link or similar when setting up a business ..or do you know anyone that's an accountant....got to be worth investigating at least...
As for if you need another car only you know the answer to that one but that's all I can think of at the moment. Will see what I can come up with idea wise but my head is a bit crap at the moment.0 -

Hey Mizmir. got the pm thanks hon! will investigate but have a few bits in mind!!!
Re the car. Just been in the same situation myself and i think there comes a point when you have to draw the line between throwing good money after bad on repairs or bite the scarey bullet on getting a new one. I think a new car although a bigger outlay initially would certainly be worth it, how about a second hand older 4x4 like a toyota rav4 or similar. think you can pick them up for a couple of k which wouldn't put a massive dent in the debt repayments.
my car would've cost £500+ to get back to a reasonable standard for a car that was worth £300 it was purely uneconomical. Leaving the repairs is not an option so i think you could fully justify the purchase of a new car, on a safety element if nowt else. if it is a bewr car then you have already the problems will be fewer and farther between and chances are much cheaper to repair and get parts for.
Hope you have a good rest of your day

If you could afford a brand new one(on finance) I would go down that route as you will have next to no bills for up to 3 years depending on mileage as with secondhand you don't know how they've been driven...and you will be claiming it back anyway...0

We are moving from 2 cars to one and a motorbike. I am sure that there will be some days when we think we should have kept both cars, but the finances say it is simply not a luxury we can currently afford - so a little bit of inconvenience occasionally will be worth it.
As for the prospect of increasing debt - you may find that with the credit crunch, the new car market is one that is struggling, so you may even find it easier to get a good deal either on 0% or as a "cash" purchase having borrowed the money elsewhere.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Now there's a thought as would've paid off debts by then - including anything on a car. Trouble is they don't seem to do the 4x4 Kangoo any more - does anyone know any 4x4 estates that aren't 4x4s if you see what I mean - don't want an enormous great landrovery thing - just something with the head room and boot space for the dogs and the 4x4 option when on the fields. Wonder if any of the smaller van styles do a 4x4? Or a cheaper estate type (Skoda, Kia, Seat? - am really not into street cred where cars are concerned - just want a good value one that suits the needs).0 -

I agree - I think that even if we had to hire a car for the odd weekend or get a few taxis here and there it wouldn't be as much as the running costs on a second car.
Now on 0% we could do something!0 -
