Hi there everybody ...
I am looking for some advise on flight supplements
I booked a holiday to Gran Canaria for two people in December 2007 for 29 December 2008 for 14 nights to Gran Canaria (carrier is Monarch).
When I made the booking there were no flight supplements.
Today I received a revised invoice from Cosmos with flight supplements included of £169.00 per person ... £338.00 increase on our holiday cost
I have not been able to get through to Cosmos tonight but will be ringing first thing in the morning ...
I am just hoping for some advice in advance as to what I can do ??
Having read their T&C ... I cannot find any info on flight supplements.
One curious thing is that for holidays booked at the beginning of December or beginning of January 2009 is that there are no supplements
Any idea's or info would be sooooooo gratefully appreciated
Cheers

2. OUR PRICE POLICY
Prices shown on this website are believed correct at the time of nightly website update (nightly XML upload). We reserve the right to change prices from time to time. Accordingly, it is possible that when you book your holiday the actual price may have gone up or down. If the price of your holiday has changed, the correct price will be confirmed at the time of booking. We reserve the right to correct errors at any time prior to the price being confirmed at the time of booking.
Once you have made your booking and paid a deposit (you do have the option to pay in full at the time of booking, although you must make full payment if booking within eight weeks of departure and the price of your chosen holiday has been confirmed by your Confirmation and Account, we will only increase or decrease it in the following circumstances. Price increases or decreases after booking will be passed on by way of a surcharge or refund. A surcharge or refund (as applicable) will be payable, subject to the conditions set out in this clause, where our transportation costs (eg. aviation insurance and security levy, fuel, scheduled airfares and any other airline surcharges which are part of the contract between airlines (and their agents) and the tour operator) and/or any dues, taxes or fees payable for services such as landing taxes or embarkation or disembarkation fees at ports or airports increase or decrease or where our costs increase or decrease as a result of any changes in the exchange rates which have been used to calculate the cost of your holiday.
Even in the above cases, we will absorb increased costs up to a total amount equivalent to 2% of the cost of your confirmed holiday (excluding insurance premiums and any amendment charges). Only if the increased costs exceed this 2% will we levy a surcharge. In either case, there will be an administration charge of ?1 per person together with an amount to cover agents’ commission. If any surcharge is greater than 10% of the cost of your holiday (excluding insurance premiums, any amendment charges or administration charges), you will be entitled to cancel your booking and receive a full refund of all monies paid to us (except for any amendment charges) or alternatively purchase another holiday from us as referred to in clause 3 - “If we change your holiday arrangements”."Baby Milk Action is a non-profit organisation which aims to save lives and to end the avoidable suffering caused by inappropriate infant feeding.0 -
I have heard that with the fuel prices going up holiday companies may hit you with flight supplements,so maybe thats why you have the extra to pay.0

Saw a segment about this on a programme today (GMTV??). Because of rising costs (fuel in particular) some companies are adding surcharges to holiday packages. The reporter stated that up to 10% rise you have to pay up or lose you hols you can only have the option to cancel if the charge is over 10%.
They also said this is the first time these supplements have come into effect since the seventies!!! Looks like more credit crunch fallout.
