Cosmos Flight Supplement Charges

Hi there everybody ...

I am looking for some advise on flight supplements

I booked a holiday to Gran Canaria for two people in December 2007 for 29 December 2008 for 14 nights to Gran Canaria (carrier is Monarch).

When I made the booking there were no flight supplements.

Today I received a revised invoice from Cosmos with flight supplements included of £169.00 per person ... £338.00 increase on our holiday cost

I have not been able to get through to Cosmos tonight but will be ringing first thing in the morning ...

I am just hoping for some advice in advance as to what I can do ??

Having read their T&C ... I cannot find any info on flight supplements.

One curious thing is that for holidays booked at the beginning of December or beginning of January 2009 is that there are no supplements

Any idea's or info would be sooooooo gratefully appreciated

Cheers

  • I heard on GMTV this morning that several companies were having to charge holidaymakers extra for their holidays, due to the horrific increase in fuel taxes etc which are occuring all around us. They mentioned a few smaller companies names, maybe cosmos are jumping on this band waggon aswell. The travel guy (can't remember his name but he wears glasses and does alot of travel documenteries) said some companies where adding upto an extra 10% on already booked and paid for holidays. And that there was nothing that could be done about it. If they increase price by over 10% then you would be able to cancel, but 10% and under your are stuck!! They are passing the duty increases onto their customers!!! Sorry sounds like they are doing this to you. You could always have a look on their website, they might have some more info on this.

Does it say exactly what the supplement is for?

Quite a lot of T/Os base their basic price on night flights from the airport they are based at (e.g. Gatwick) so a day flight from say, East Midlands would attract a flight supplement.
Then, there's the 'Air Passenger Duty' that the Government imposed.
    And the 'Fuel Supplement'.

If Cosmos have added £169 per person, they should state what this is for.

A number of tour operators are now adding surcharges, as reported on GMTV and in the newspapers however a flight supplement is entirely different. Most holidays through tour operators do come with a flight supplement and it is listed separately on confirmation invoices. If sounds like they may have missed it off your initial confirmation invoice and now be putting it on this revised invoice. Do you still have a copy of your confirmation invoice?

Did you get through to them?
