Tiscali: It's just not worth it!!!

Let me start off by saying that I am in a total desire to kill myself being a Tiscali customer!!!
I've been Homechoice for over a yr and they got took over by Tiscali, where the journey to hell starts.
They recently upgraded my service and said they will switch everything to Tiscali (including my BT line) on the 24th Apr 08 for an attractive total price. Great!!!
So, on the 24th Apr, TV service is normal but broadband is out. Called their 0871 number (20p a min fyi) and have to wait for more than 15 mins to find out that, oh... you have to change your set top box. WHY NO ONE CALLED ME AND TOLD ME THAT???? And in their letter sent earlier, they explicitly said, I DO NOT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING!!!
That's not the worst. So they said their engineers will come on the 26th Apr. So I waited on the 26th Apr... AND NO ONE TURNS UP!!!! I even spoke to someone on the 25th May and they confirmed that someone will be here on the 26th!!!
So called their 0871 number and as usual, waited another 15 mins or so and found out that, ohh... it's suppose to be
3rd of May... WHAT THE F***!!!
Other than !!!!ed off, I can just wait another week.
On the 3rd May, I waited again and guess what, NO ONE TURN UP!!! So I called their 0871 number again and waited for another 20 mins and they said they tried calling to the technicians and his supervisor and can't be able to find out where have they been!!! WHY NO ONE CALLED ME????
To all forum members and experts here,
1) What can I do apart from complaining to the OFFCOM which I already did?
2) DO NOT SWITCH TO TISCALI FOR WHATEVER REASON!!!
3) Any lawyers here that I can engaged to sue them???
All of the above plus many weird email replies from their complaints dept are all
well kept for future reference. I would really like to switch back to other ISP but because I will be moving outside London in 6 months time, I really don't want to stuck with another 12 mths contract!!!!

yep, Tiscali are pants, some terrible customer service and an 0871 to call for help, I usually use the free support forum on their site as it is manned by UK stuff and not their Indian call centre (which is absolutely hopeless) and usually can help faster and better.
I stick to Tiscali purely for economical reasons, they give me all my communication needs for about £20/month (Phone, line rental, TV and Broadband) so I am swallowing the rubbish customer service bitter pill and remember that there is people out there who are much worse off.:eek:Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

Tiscali connected us in Nov 07 with broadband and phone. 10 days later cut off the broadband but couldnt find out why. Phone calls every day to India resulted in 12 promises to call back and guess what..... noone ever did. Oh except the time when I said I wouldnt be in and they left a message on my answerphone.
Eventually after 2 weeks they said they had forgotten to activate my account! So waited another few days...... nothing happened.
More calls to india. They said I could cancel. I changed to BT.
They said I would only have to pay for the calls to mobiles but it was too late to cancel my first direct debit. I paid it - £30. Then a month later they took another £20 and no rebate arrived.
Last month ( after still many calls to India) a company called CARS - debt collectors - sent a letter saying I owed Tiscali £197. I would have to pay or be taken to court and it would affect my credit rating!
More calls to India & complaint letters to Tiscali.
Another letter arrived from CARS.
I am now so worried what they might do.... so have paid the £197.
How can I get my money back for a service that was never provided?

wow... seems like your's is even in more deep !!!! than mine.
I just can't believe how bad they can be!!! I practically scolded someone on the phone until that poor fellar cried!!! Probably I will be awaiting for some kind of legal repercursion

I've just been on the phone this afternoon to Tiscali after they mucked up my upgrade from Homechoice. Basically I've cancelled with them. Luckily for me I decided to get Business Broadband with virgin before this muck up. So I will still have boardband but only freeview for tv.
I am being to think that Tiscali wants to drive away all the customers they have inherited from HomeChoice.
If you can be bothered you have to follow the Tiscali Complaints procedure which means writing letters l - http://www.tiscali.co.uk/legal/code-of-practice/index.html#9
However it's probably quicker to cancel and use a mobile data card from one of the mobile networks to have boardband access. You can also use pay as you go boardband but you will have to get the mac address from Tiscali wait 15 days from them to release the line and then wait for the other provider to connect you.

I think where they are located or who answered the call is irrelevant. But the fact that they promised to come, but never came. They said they will call back, but never did. And they said they tried calling me, they farking lied!!
I really wish I could switch, but for certain reason I have to be with them. :mad:0
