Liking Rog's suggestion, sounds like a fair compromise to me!
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -
I agree that we don't want the forum to be inundated with extra 'stickies'.
Yep. Can't help but agree.
That is why I am instead suggesting minor but significant tweaks to the way things are now. That would enable Newbies to be made aware of the pitfalls of posting on an open forum like this, without overburdening the board with them.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

How many newbies actually read the newbie thread though? I know I didn't.
hmm, nor me.
I'll go with a compromise, but there definitely needs to be some sort of warning on the board, that sorta of hits you first off.0 -
I promise not to post anymore silly songs - is that rog I see jumping for joy?:j
I have been at t'dentist today and met a mate in Brum, had a coffee in costa lot for your coffee mate, bought a sarnie from somewhere else and then went back to mates pad in his alfa romeo - did my good deed for the day too and that was to go outside into his back garden and read his gas meter (he is in a wheelchair and cannot get down the step into his back garden). He drove me back to mine so that I could learn the route back to his when I next drive there.
So instead of a silly song, I have a joke - Q) what's brown and sticky?
A) A stick.
Now don't all groan at once:D0 -
Whoops, slipping down to the bottom of the page, BUMP, hope that gets it back up near the top.
Did kind of read the newbies guide, but obviously not thoroughly enough- rather like the T&C on CCA's ...0 -
Incorporating a troll warning into one of the existing stickies sounds good!
I know we're talking specifically about the DFW board here, but there are occasionally some quite nasty posts/posters on some of the other boards as well, and I'm wondering if the board guides will have to take that into account when deciding whether or not to have such a warning.. Would they then have to think about putting a troll warning on each of the boards?
It's a difficult one, isn't it..
Maybe instead of responding to them, people who recognise that particular poster as a troll can just do what they do with spam postings, ie, insert appropriate picture (in this case nasty-looking troll, lol) and just say they've been reported? Just a thought, - I've no idea if this would work!0 -

That's a good idea too.0 -

Of course he hasn't. He is obviously still at the screaming in the nursery sandbox stage of his development.0 -
it's learned how to start its own thread 'dfw help' - it's evolving into a bona fide troll now!

Are all trolls illiterate as well as sad & lonely with nothing better to do ?0
