Cheapest Train journey from Paddington to Plymouth ?
Comments
-
The only reason it's more expensive after 23 July is that the cheap tickets have not been released yet. Only the full fare tickets are on sale. When they are released there will be cheaper fares available - maybe not as cheap as £13 but definitely not as expensive as £64. My guess is around £20-£25
Be aware that if you split the tickets in Bristol, you will normally have to change trains there. Not because the rules say you must but. because most London to Plymouth trains don't go via Bristol. Typically you'd get a London-Bristol train and connect into a Birmingham-Plymouth train
ok, r u sure it has nothing to do with the schools summer holidays starting?
i will wait a week or 2 and see if any offers appear
thanksPlease take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk

Quite sure - if you wait you will in some way be rewarded - that £64 ticket is a walk on fare and can be bought on the day if necessary so you ain't going to lose out. It doesn't sell out, ever.
You want advance singles - not a saver. They will probably be a bit more expensive because of the school holidays (ie the cheapest bands may not be offered) but they will be there. Maybe not on the 1803 (peak hour...) but certainly a bit later in the day.
When that 23 July message on the FGW site is updated - THAT's the time to book.
Forget promotion codes - the last time FGW had any they didn't offer any discount, just led you to the normal cheap fares available to all.0 -
Journey time, comfort level...inspector_monkfish wrote: »Whats the catch there then?
Before you book check out National Express - they may have "fun fares" on that route which make Megabus look expensive0 -

Standard Advance Single E £13 and £13.50
Standard Advance Single D £18 and £18.50
Standard Advance Single C £23 and £24
Standard Advance Single B £27.50 and £29
Standard Advance Single A £32.50 and £34
there are more catogories but i won't bore you with them all !
firstly, why 2 very similar prices for each category?
secondly, its just a train... can there really be that many different classes?
Is 'E' on the roof, and 'A' in a comfy private compartment ????
all seems a bit overly confusing ....Please take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk

The only difference you will really notice is between a Standard or First fare. Discounted first class tickets are also sold in this way: I think the price difference between the very cheapest First and Standard tickets is a matter of five pounds, and sometimes the cheapest available First costs less than the cheapest available Standard.
Other than that, the only difference is in the small print: the size of the penalty you have to pay if you need to travel at a different time may vary between these classes.0
