paypal hold your money for 4 - 5 BUSINESS days (up to 8 days) because they can! they have very little or no competition and make a little more money from the 4 - 8 days from interest at the expense of their customers.

It's pure greed, they hold it because they're greedy. It's THAT simple!

Here is the alternative to paypal: http://www.merchantinc.com/

paypal stole £80 from me and they gave me complete bull, they've made cutbacks and now their server is a lot slower, the sooner people start contributing and start using other alternatives the sooner they'll start thinking about the customers and I bet you the 4 - 8 days will drop down pretty damn quickly!
:heart:Rest in Peace, Emily. Say hi to Robbo for me xxx

No they don't and they don't earn interest on it (in the UK they aren't allowed and in the US they hold the interest they do earn in a fund that can be requested back).
When funds are withdrawn they put it through the banking system as soon as they can. Any delays are down to the banking procedures. In recent times the withdrawal process has speeded up considerably from 5-7 days to 2-3 days.
Its actually in their interest for it to be as quick as possible.
If you believe a company stole money from you then you have recourse to Trading Standards.
