Following last years post by mjr600 I bought a Mistral 12000BTU.
Its a heat pump model, so can be used to heat or cool.
Works really well. Have compared it with a Challenge from Argos. The Mistral is a little quieter, Chills colder, & is cheaper.
Currently £196.77, or £175.98 for the 8000BTU version.

I have one of these and it is a little better than a fan but not a patch on an air con unit...mine is redundant in the loft0 -
One was developed in the 1970's at Queens University Belfast with that efficiency, it seems very doubtful that it was an air source pump. Unfortunately no link, probably in the ladder-less nylons, cars running on water "myth" category.I am not aware of any heatpump giving out more than 350% which as far as I know is the best achievable.
Perhaps you could give a link to any that exceed this.
The LG one on here has a quoted efficiency between 317% cooling and 370% heating.
The Wikepedia COPs seem to be for heating not cooling.
Transfer efficiency depends so much on the temperatures of source and destination, (not to mention the ability to maintain the source temperature), So it is easy to cook;) the figures. I seem to remember a heat recovery system for whole house ventilation with a quoted efficiency 700+%.

The LG equipment and isntall your prob looking at just under £2000 for install and supply of equipment by a proffesional, thats up here in the north.
But your getting commercial quality equipment and proffesional install.
Because they are inverter units they are efficient right down to -15C as they slow down or speed up depending on the demand and outside air temperature. If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0 -

those portable air coolers are designed where you have ur windows and doors and a breeze blowing through, they actually addf more humidity to the air because you fill them with water and its the humidity that makes the air feel more unconfortable as hotter air holds more moisture. If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0

7.3kg would cost £11.40 using RM Standard Parcels...how much postage?...
You could possibly send it cheaper using a courier agent
