I've had my 12.000 BTU machine on for the past couple of days (back problems causing pain and high blood pressure don't help) and I'm really thankful for it.
I've got a brand new spare unit in my garage just in case lol.Always looking for a bargain and to help0 -
Are these air conditioning units any good and how portable are they, i.e. can you take them up and down the stairs fairly easily.Jan Grocery challenge
Budget £350 - Spent £64.45 to date0 -
They are a bit on the heavy side, as they contain a fridge compressor, not small and need to vent to the outside. So not quite as mobile as a fan.chocolatepennyfarthing wrote: »Are these air conditioning units any good and how portable are they, i.e. can you take them up and down the stairs fairly easily.
These seem cheaper this year, Ebuyer and Aria are competing.
To start the bidding,
Ebuyer has a slightly bigger (9000Btu) one to OP for £125

Aria has a bigger one (12000Btu) for £139.

Does anyone know if these air conditioners come with a hose that you have to stick out a window or door? Or can you use them inside without a hose? Thanks!0

They should, but to cut the selling price the hose or window vent fittings may be an extra, always check with the seller.daviddonna wrote: »Does anyone know if these air conditioners come with a hose that you have to stick out a window or door? Or can you use them inside without a hose? Thanks!
They need to vent to the outside as the are a heat pump, otherwise you would just be wasting electricity.
The hot air from the vent would go back into the room so the temperature would not go down.
Same as a fridge, so it would be the same as leaving a fridge door open.

The Matsui MPA9KWR as an example is 30 kg with handles and wheels "portable" I would say yes.... "any good" ...try reevoo.com for a review

Hi all,
I have two mobile air conditioning units, which vent through an open window, and they work very well to cool a bedroom for a couple of hours, just before you go to bed. However....
They are VERY noisy indeed. It would be just about impossible to go to sleep with either of them switched on in the bedroom.
You can however, get much quieter ones that are a bit more expensive
