Btu x 0.293 = W, so 9000Btu = 2.64 KW cooling effect, say 400% efficient then that will use 660watts of electricity at a guess.

Yeah but it is fun to email them an enquiry. They are there now and Jon Haher may well be Mr H-Mac himself and boy is he quick at replying to emails ... enquiry about shipping costs ... where do you want it shipped to? Are you being a smart !!! Jon? My home of course! Hope he doesn't get too many time wasting enquiries.

I have got one in my bedroom.

Heavy but portable (wouldnt want to go up and down stairs with it) vents through open window, noisy, but cools room from 25* down to 16* in about an hour

In the past I have had a fan and then an air cooler , both a waste of time.

That is quite a bit actually if it's around 600W same as constantly having the microwave on.

Nearer 250-300% efficient. More likely 1KW so around 10p per hour.

We have a 9000 btu 'portable' air conditioning unit

It weighs 30kg - so not really suitable for taking up & down stairs

As others say, they need to vent to the outside, either via a through the wall vent, or via an open window.

Ours is rated at 1200w input power
