:T I second this ~ Astonish is probably the one thing I couldn't live without. It gets so many marks off, even felt tip off skin! You can normally pick it up in the pounds shops and the tub lasts ages!Mortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £82,340.34 May 2037Swagbucks ~ £155 (2024 ~ £395)Surveys ~ £157.19 (2024 ~ £280.14)Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £964.62 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)0 -

To restore and remove discolouration I use quickleen-s from <website> this will work on all brushed stainless steel and is used in the catering trade. if you then want a polish I would suggest the untimate40 stainless steel cleaner from <website> these should work for 99% of problems. baby oil is illegal to use in commerial kitchens as it is a petroleum base product that should be kept away from food area.
If i can help in any other way post a reply
A brand new poster recommending a website that also in their user name? My word....:rotfl:
I think you'd best reign in your *illegal* claim, too as most of the posters here are only concerned with domestic kitchens.0 -
We need to replace our oven which would be easier to keep clean ... free of finger marks etc ? and how easy would it be to find a matching gas hob later if we went brushed steel ?
Thanks in Advance !0 -
Hi,
I only have a gas oven, so no idea on seperate hobs.
Brushed steel or stainless steel, however, sounds horrendous to keep clean, does it have to be either of these?0 -
Hmmm ... well i wanted silver any other options ? they all seem to be stainless steel ...0

Hi, Well if your prepared to clean the finger marks etc. off, then I beleive there are stainless steel cleaners in the supermarket that you can buy. I'm sure they work fine.
I've got one of those silver fridges, but its only a fridge manufactured as silver rather than white IYSWIM, rather than stainless, in this case I can use anything.0 -
I completely ruined a stainless steel hob. Though I would spray it with Cilit Bang and leave overnight as it was a bit manky. WRONG - completely ruined the whole thing. The cleaner had sort of eaten into the surface, leaving it very patchy and looking more like aluminium. Be careful what you clean it with and NEVER leave it on overnight! XX0

If i had to choose between the two i would say the brushed steel rather than the really shiny stainless steel.
Stainless looks great when its just for show, but its a nightmare to keep looking its best!!
You cant just wipe it over, you have to dry it and buff it to keep it looking its best.
Hope that helps:)Everyday im shufflin' Proud Padder ~ All Hail The Power of Pad0 -
I, too, ruined my stainless steel sink by squirting some cleaner on it (which I read afterwards said DO NOT USE ON STAINLESS STEEL). It wasn't anything I'd ever even THOUGHT of. Consequently, I had a nice wave pattern of ruination all round my sink, where I'd squirted the cleaner.
Stainless steel also scratches and looks dull very quickly.
Mmmm - sounds like you need brushed steel, doesn't it?!0 -
A tip from a lift engineer I was talking to.
Wipe stainless stel with baby oil, cleans off fingerprints and keeps it shiny!
Apparently, you can get fragrance free baby oil, which he uses. He uses loads of it on lift doors!0
