That's who I used to get the parts to build my son's PC last year, and can thoroughly recommend them. Cost me around £250 to build a decent spec gaming machine, with another £150 for the graphix card, which would have cost me a lot more to buy ready made"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

It is that what you do, good or bad,
will come back to you three times as strong!

I've had a trade account with MicroDirect for about eight years and I can thoroughly recommend them. I only buy the odd bit nowadays as there's not really any money in building PC's now what with Dell and the like throwing them out so cheap but I recently bought an MP3 player for personal use and when I had to return it their customer service/returns department was excellent.....unlike Ebuyers. The only thing that used to nark me about MD was their P&P charge, flat rate of £10 on any order, no matter how small but thats all changed now.
I've never used Eclipse so can't comment on them.He huihuinga taangata he pukenga whakaaro – A meeting of people; a wellspring of ideas (Maori proverb)0 -

I like youI agreeeeeeeeeee with you 100%
Well, I reckon the two sites are similar - Eclipse is based up North - I know an IT pro who uses them too. They're very good for asking anything you're not sure about. They're advertised in that big 3/4" PC mag... can't think what it's called for the life of me now. lol. Haven't bought it for about 3 years.0 -
Hmm...PC shopper or something similar? I know the one you mean though, 99% adverts and 1% information! He huihuinga taangata he pukenga whakaaro – A meeting of people; a wellspring of ideas (Maori proverb)0

If you do decide to build a new system, and its your first major computer build, its worth looking at barebones systems.
Exactly. So unless you have a really good case that you want to recycle. Or you enjoy spreading heatsink compound and applying tons of pressure to your shiny new motherboard in order to clip the heatsink on. As a newbie learn how to add in your cards and upgrade memory. Maybe do a complete build nextime. The only time it is worth it is when you know exactly what you want, and as a newbie that wont be the case0 -

Well most theory chaps know what they want - just don't know how to get their hands dirty.0 -
Oh I love it, just know that it isn't for everybody. And a nightmare when things go wrong......
Company sent me a dodgy mobo, so after loads of memory swaps and combinations, weeks running memtest and other testing I had to disassemble and return the board, wait for a replacement and rebuild. Had I bought a system I could have had an advance replacement!0
