  • Probably not gonna win many friends here but what the heck....

I think digb has a point. I feel for the boy...I would have got my wallet out if the voucher did not work. It was his birthday.

I had to smile at the above comment.....even if you had got the second free pizza you would still be stuck with tabasco sauce you won't use. :D

perhaps the OP had not budgetted for/had not got enough cash/could not afford to"get their wallet out"???

If unexpected things like that happen to me i couldn't.Even if i want to treat my children i have to REALLY budget for it.I'm not mean just financially disadvantaged!
Every day above ground is a good one ;)
  • Try keeping your sarky remarks to yourself. I'd just shelled out £80 for a new bike.
  • Whether the OP should or should not have "got their wallet out" is completely beside the point. If the voucher did not expire until Oct 05 then the pizza place should have accepted the voucher until Oct 05. I can't believe that they are within their rights to just stop the promotion. However, I have no law knowledge so if I'm wrong someone please correct me.
What did I do at work before I discovered MSE?!

DFD - WAS: a while ago

NOW - not sure, due to boyfriend going back to uni for masters and now pgce. Worth it in the long run!
Proud to be dealing with my debts!

    digP, Humph & turning_into_scrooge,

Stupid idea to get your wallet out and reward a company for using dishonest underhanded methods.

Didn't the OP say she went to get fish and chips? Probably what she could afford at the time but most importantly not giving any money to the dishonest pizza company.

Read the T&C on the voucher and then contact Trading Standards. They will advise you on your rights etc.

    OP,

1st phone (or write) and ask to speak to manager, find out if he owns the store or if he is employed by papa joes.

If he is franchised did he consent (to papa Joes) to honour the vouchers to begin with?

If yes what is his reason for withdrawing from the offer?

If NO, ask him if he has said anything to his franchise head office about this. Tell him you have no option but to write a letter of complaint to head office.

With information gleaned write to head office, For an explanation. Ask for compensation for your wasted round trip about 40p per mile is the going rate for mileage allowance.

I just read the other thread on this in the grabbit board see post #9 in this thread for a link. I would now suggest you write to head office, and tell them you want compensation for your petrol @ 40p per mile and this letter, and you either want to be assured in writing that this shop will accept your voucher next time you visit.
  • Just received a lovely email from Sarah Bridges at Papa Johns apologising for the whole thing. She's going to send a voucher for a free pizza (12" version which is bigger than original offered) and hopes this won't put me off buying from Papa Johns in the future. Well done Papa Johns.
