Hello,

My wife and I are out of contract next month. We have the following:

LGP7200 on O2

Sony Ericssion D750i on T Mobile

We both use our phone very lightly so need just a basic package so no contracts this time:rolleyes:. A PAYG will do fine:T

Can you unlock these 2 phones?

Is their any way we can get a free sim card for these phones with free texts and a reasonable call charge tariff.

Lastly is there any deals on a network sim that would allow us to text each other for free (on the same network).

many thanks in advance,

George

Both the phones will cost a fiver or ten quid to unlock at a local phone shop.

There are numerous tariffs on PAYG at present so without knowing your usage patterns (are the majority of calls between you and the wife?) hard to advise.

Vodafone and O2 both have frequent number calls for a small price - Vodaphone family £5 or £6 a month to four numbers. O2 do a ten favourite numbers on O2 for a fiver for 1000 minutes or texts.

Virgin does texts between Virgin SIMs for 3p..

There are free SIMs around constantly - there is even a free SIM thread here.

The best way forward is as our friend said on Vodafone or O2. I have been on PAYG with both and the reception is first class. I moved to O2 PAYG as i have O2 broadband and they offer an extra £5 per month off the braodband if you have a qualifying PAYG with them(min topup is £10 every 3 months)

There were some free O2 sim cards on offer till recently. Have a look at the QUidco site and also google "free O2 SIM".

There is also the option of SIM only contracts with O2 and Vodafone, typically for about £15 per month where they supply a SIM with so many mins and texts per month. The notice period is usually only 30 days. Carphone warehouse offer the same thing i think on their Talkmobile service, for about £10 - the actual provider of the network is Vodafone.

Tesco mobile are a good deal as the carrier is O2, and Asda mobile who use
Vodafone. There is an offer out there now for free Tesco mobile SIM cards.

HERE is a link to Vodafones own website offering various SIM only contracts.
O2 do a similar thing. If you join Quidco and take out a contract with Vodafone then you should be able to get £20 cashback as well

When you ring a network to cancel your contract it is fairly common for them to try to retain your custom by offering deals until you are tempted to stay. Stick to your guns and request your PAC code and these deals will improve.

If you don't want new handsets I would be surprised if they don't offer you a fairly low monthly contract amount - I have read on other forums (HUKD) that tariffs as low as £5 a month for a few hundred minutes and texts are achievable. Some have even managed free contracts (they charge say £15 per month but put a credit for £180 on your account - i.e. if you don't spend more than your contract minutes the years calls will be free).

You have nothing to lose and (potentially) alot to gain for a few phone calls. Have a read through the threads on here for O2 and Vodafone retentions as these will give you some more background / tips before you ring. Good luck.

    I saw This offer:
    http://www.o2.co.uk/mobilestariffs/tariffs/paygo/paygoboltons0153

Look for Your O2 Numbers from the left hand list

and it looks good. 1000 txt or calls to 10 o2 nominated numbers for £5 per month. But where I need the help is that even after reading the T&C I can't see what the cost is per txt ot min for calls if I need to call a number not on my 10 nominated O2 numbers?

Or is it that I can't call any other number other than the 10 O2 numbers?

    Thanks in advance.................;)
