Vaillant Boiler Problems

My boiler is about 4 yrs old, and now for some reason will run hot for about 5 seconds then cold for about a minute and keep repeating, this means hot baths/showers are out of the question.
Plumber says needs a new PCB rocking in at about £200, anyone know how this sounds or if this problem sounds like it can be fixed another way?
