HMV student card

username

I'm trying to buy something off HMV.co.uk but I want to get a discount as I am a student. I went to my local HMV today and asked for a student card, but apparently they had all 'been sent back to head office 4 weeks ago', which to me sounds bizarre - you can only get the discount card at certain times of the year?!

So I'm asking (seeing as I can't get hold of one), is there anyone here that would be willing to give me the number off their student discount card so I can use it?

Have you tried Play.com? Most probably cheaper and you get 5% discount with student code. But currently I cannot find the code in my emails bah. I will edit when I have found it.

I would give you the number but its linked to my online account. They have probably sent them back as they think most people that wanted one would have one by now and then they can get ready for whatever they are doing next year.

They expire in September and they don't like to issue them over the summer as students would take advantage of it too much.

I have managed to get these cards in summer, but I know they usualy withdraw them in late august. Try to ask at another branch

my local hvm told me that you can now only get a student card if you apply for one online. as the stores are no longer issuing them. Also that you can not get any discount with just your maltric card, you need the proper HMV student card, my local branch used to have a student card behind the tills that they would use if you had just your student card, and now they don't even have that one.

Have just been scuppered by this.

Went into HMV today with my NUS extra card and was told I need their card to get discount. Fair enough, zavvi do the same. So I asked for a card, to be told they dont issue them anymore but they have been giving them out to every student whos come in since september?!

Ive have been in there countless times since September (bought all my christmas stuff from there) and not once has anyone stopped me using my NUS card, or told me about their card? I was in there 2 weeks ago and they let me use it then with no mention of their new card?

Im completely miffed at this, not at the fact that they have their own card now but the fact that I have never been told and I must have been in there about 20 times in the last 8 months!

Is it worth complaining to head office? Ive spoken to friends in uni and not a single one knew about this 'new card'.

If its 2 years then thats even worse! Why have none of us been told this?? My entire course knew nothing of this, and they accepted my card up until 2 weeks ago.

Surely someone should have actually bothered to tell me so that I could get discount for the next 4 months?
