I applied online for another birth certificate for my son about a month ago, he received it last week. It cost me £11.50. You will need to put in certain details, like the place of birth, the mother (i take it your sister would be on the birth certificate as the adoptive mother). Was easy to do though.

(Just for information - Money Laundering Regs will now only allow a birth certificate to be used as the NAME proof for identity until you are 18yrs old, you still have to provide proof of address, and if you are over 18, then something else must be used. HTH Jo xx)

Hopefully we will be fine then. Am going up there later today. Plus hopefully they won't ask for proof of address for him as they didn't state that initially - I am already a customer so they will have proof he is my son and they know I live where I do!

We've been and the copy was accepted. They also accepted my account as proof of his address.

Still think the photocopy doesn't look half as nice as my hand-written copy I got by posting a request to the registry office where I was born nor his sisters copy which is like mine. Seeing as it costs the same I think if I ever needed a copy for someone to keep again I would send via the local registry office rather than the national register.
I live in my own little world. But it's okay. They know me here.
