Hi hoping someone can help want a cheap week somewhere hot as a surprise trip for my partner for 1 week going from any london airport on 20th june ?
Not bothered about where as long as it got sandy beaches and good weather. Looking at a budget of about £200 per person. Any help be much appreciated as havn't a clue where to start

The airport bus meets all flights arriving at reus and goes to salou. It drops at your hotel and picks up on return worked out about £10 ish return per person (they put your name in a diary and you wait in front of your hotel at the time given on return). On your return journey it seems to be cutting it fine to make the flight check in, but as it is such a small airport, you get dropped at the door and the check in desk is straight ahead. Salou is great as has a beach, shops and you can get a road train to the aqua park and portaventura theme park (if this is your thing)-it has great rides and shows for all ages Birds shows, mexican dancers, can can in the wild west saloon,magicians, acrobats.

A lot of the best flights and deals for July seem to be gone. Cheapest I could find was www.easyjet.com manchester to malaga flights for 5 of you come in now at £659.90 (bags extra) 17th july to 24 July. www.thomson.co.uk for areas near malaga start at £647 for the 5 of you (as 2 rooms required). You could try www.holidaylettings.co.uk as apartment hire for 6 with pool on complex and club house start from £300.I see some owners even arrange transfers it says. I use www.transfers.net for other parts of spain.

Best deals come from Teletext - be flexible when and where but avoid the accomodation on arival if you've got kids. Too risky. Turkey is good value at momenet, and Portugal flights cheap on Easyjet. Book Villa online. Flights £70. each. Villa £250 a week.:money:

Mee too. I've a villa booked in Malaga 24th Aug. I've already boooked the flight fm London to Malaga for £35 each (easyjet) but return is £150 :eek: .

As I'm paying for my teens too, I have to find a cheaper way home or we'll be stranded in Spain

Anyone know if its likely I'll get a flight if I just turn up at the airport on 31st Aug (week following Bank holiday). ...and how much standby (I've heard £90)

Who have you 'heard £90' from?

Just turning up at the airport would seem a very foolhardy plan to me.

What will you do if the flights are fully booked or if the tickets cost considerably more than the £150 you are currently looking at?

I agree with incapuppy that you will either probably pay a lot more for a flight than £150 if you go on Standby and you may not get on a flight at all. That weekend will be busy with return flights as it is the one before the kids all go back to school. Also would your holiday insurance still be valid if you did not book a return flight. I and family have had to go last minute to Ireland on occassion due to family emergencies and have had to pay high prices for seats. I would not take a chance and would either book the flights now or as flights are cheaper coming back on the Wednesday-maybe it would be cheaper to rent the villa for a few extra days and book these?

As said- everyone will want to get home for the school term- check out the coaches or train or if you can get to Valladolid or Zaragoza in Spain flight is £33 & £37.79 or from Barcelona it is £57.78 and Gerona ££63-
all prices from Skyscanner.net- just put in Spain to London 31August-good luck

I resolved this way:

1) Booked extra 4 days off work to return following Thursday instead of Sunday. Saved £400 on flights doing ths.
2) Used £200 to book cheap apartment in different part of Malaga, and using balance of what I would have paid - to spend on food/trips etc over 4 days
Yay! Happy with extra 4 days hols :beer:

Thanks to all - glad I didn't chance turning up at the airport.
