Who is using my wireless connection?

I need similar advice, my router has WEP built in, is it possible to upgrade to WPA or is a new router needed?
What's the router? Unless it's completely ancient I don't see why it it would only have WEP."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Should be under the wireless settings. Just look for wherever it says "encryption", it's also where the passkey/word/phrase is set."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

According to According to this site that particular router has a feature called Wireless Access Control which means you can define, using the unique MAC address of your laptop and/or other wifi devices, which devices can use the wifi on the router to access the net connection. Any device not on this list will be forbidden from using it. Much more secure than WEP or WPA
I hope you are not just using this method... It actually takes a lot less time and effort to spoof a MAC address than it does to crack WEP. WEP can be cracked in about 20 minutes given the right conditions...0 -
oh how i wish i had not left the "alone" off the end of that last sentence, apologies all round :embarasse
So why don't you delete your very inaccurate post #9 as some idiot may believe what you have said! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Wireless security is like safe sex only 99.9 percent safe. There are of cause a few select people out there who would be able to hack into your system, but lets face it, what interest would they have in hacking the system of the average home user.
If you have security enabled then the chances of someone hacking your system to use your bandwidth are, Minimal.
Like some of the previous posters have said, if your concerned, check what devices are attached to your router. To travel at the speed of light, one must first become light.....0 -

It's BT Voyager 2110, About 12 months old but via plusnet so probably an older model. Any advice would be much appreciated. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -

Using my omniscient powers (also known as google) I can see it does support WPA and WPA2 (even more secure). You can download the user guide here if you don't have it (http://www.voyager.bt.com/wireless_devices/voyager_2110/downloads.htm). Just go into the router's configuration page and look for the encryption, the exact procedure will be in the user guide."She is quite the oddball. Superscaper, Thanks for your help, I now have the user guide (understanding it is a different matter) I am a self taught computer user, but unfortunately haven't taught myself anything advanced. Will give it a try though. Didn't like the bit where it said I will lose the connection, then need to reconfigure my wireless adaptor. I have a laptop with built in wireless and no idea how to re config or even access the wireless settings. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

I'm using a orange livebox which I think is WEP encryption. Should I be ditching this and get a more secure router?sometimes you're the pigeon, sometimes you're the statue!0
