Have viewings slowed or stopped?

Hello all,
Just wondered how other sellers were faring. We live on a good, popular, road in a poor area. We have had NO viewings at all although we have priced low to move quickly (ha!). House has been on market since Easter.
Speaking to a couple of local people in similar situation, they tell me that they've had no viewings since Easter too.
So what I really want to know is are people still viewing houses or has the market ground to a halt, or is it just us?
Thanks in advance.

I know people who haven't had a viewing since Easter LAST year.
It's only going to get worse too. We're in a crash.0 -
Hi
Absolutely stone cold dead in East Kent.

I have a mate who had an offer within two weeks of marketing at Easter on the outskirts of London, a local developer has one more reservation and a plot with a very run down property sold overnight for full asking (then went to sealed bids because of the speed of sale). Other than that, I've seen no new sold signs around here for weeks and weeks.0

My SD's house (hideous location backing onto busy railway line) just went under offer after only a very short time at what seemed a ridiculously high asking price. This is in the SE so maybe things aren't completely dead. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

Four viewings since going on the market on 20 April, in East Sussex.
We are an odd area though - traditional Wealden village where all the properties are "individual" (so no comparisons to "similar" properties in the village).
Our problem is that we have a huge house on a plot which is smaller than would be expected. Here, one would expect at least an acre of garden/land for the size of the property and we simply have an "adequate" garden, albeit with spectacular views.
I rather think that "the market" is very different, depending on where - exactly - you are situated

All markets are local markets.0

Things seem OK in Oxfordshire, but less properties up for sale than usual around this time of year.
My colleague is selling, and so far has had 12 viewings in about 7 weeks, with 2 coming back for 2nd viewings, and one has also come back for a 3rd time to measure up to see if their furniture will fit.
He's priced his house reasonably though, so it certainly won't be the price putting people off!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
My house has been on since just before Easter and it's only had 1 viewing despite being priced to sell. Market appears to be dead around here.
I'd be interested to hear how many of those who are getting viewings are in the price bracket of FTB's (as mine is). I'd suspect a number of those viewers may not be proceedable until they've shifted their own properties?0 -
A lot of us FTB are waiting for property to come down back to 3.5 times salary. The fact that if we can even get a mortgage over that there is the likelihood of negative equity which is putting us off. On top of that many first time buyers now need deposits, so as much as 25%, it will take a while to save these sums.:exclamatiScams - Shared Equity, Shared Ownership, Newbuy, Firstbuy and Help to Buy.

I've had my mum's property (probate) on the market since last October.
We've had about 2 viewings a month. My solictor tells me all her probate properties are in the same position.
The house two doors away from mums had a sold sign outside within 4 days (with the same agent we started off with). Mum's is a bigger property (has been extended) but is a tad old fashioned in decor and has aluminium windows so looks 'older'. The houses are in zone 6 so very communtable for London.
The house that sold was very 'Sarah Beeny' so it appears to me that buyers want sparkling properties as perhaps they do not have the money to modernise due to not being able to get 100%+ mortgages anymore.
On the other hand, I am just about to complete on a buy-to-let flat which I put on the market in March. I did however, price it low and accept a lowish offer on the basis that I just wanted to shift it.
From my own experience and agent feedback I think houses have to be either 'Property Ladder' ready or very cheap (or both) to attract viewings and sell.0
