Why not have a crack at making reusable nappies, my wife has just shelled out for some at £12 each (!!), aparantly they're hand made by (now rich) old women on some scottish island..."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

Nappy soakers/ longies are incredibly popular with eco-friendly mums and dads. (It's a wool garment that goes over a terry nappy). They have to be made from top quality wool but the patterns are simple and are available online for free.
The big retailers haven't muscled in on this promising market yet - and the only suppliers are small craftspeople.0 -

Oh my dear god, you cant believe what some people wil buy these days!!!!0 -
Get a copy of one of the catalogues for parents with more money than sense, and see what you could make for a more sensible price. Pretty well everything, I reckon!0

Sorry - edit not working for me - how about fabric shopping bags? Very topical, and not extravagant on materials.0

although I think time and effort might outweigh rewards.
Ive never knitted anything in my life, so I may struggle with this one!0 -
If you could see my stash of fabrics you'd know how naughty I am not to be doing this myself! I found this:

(the patchwork tote is worth a look, and wouldn't have to have a zip.) If you don't have a mad person's supply of fabric, you could unpick jumble sale garments and get 'vintage' into your description of the bags.
Our lawyers can get together some time to discuss the royalties0 -
Alternatively, take a step back and sell the raw materials instead of the finished item - I started off my own small business part-time around my job after discovering I was the world's worst jewellery maker and selling off all my unused bits and pieces. I've now been doing it full-time for 18 months and will have to register for VAT this year
