  • we have two of the cheaper versions and they are brilliant I think one was from Primark.
She's a bleeder for kicking the covers off, and these are fantastic for keeping her warm at night. I'm not sure how much they were but they were no more than a tenner each
Capital one was £1000.00 now £0.00:j
    Barclaycard was £250.00 now £190. 00
Asda credit card was £500.00 now £0.00:j

We had 2 new ones from Mothercare when DD was very small, but bought a Next one, and I think a 'proper' Grobag one on eBay as she got older. No real difference IMO....Really useful though, especially for night feeds, leave baby in there and they don't realise they're being put back into their cot once they've gone back to sleep!

DD's now 3 and I wish she'd stop kicking her covers off....but I don't think I could stand the row if I put her back into a sleeping bag....

Problem is, and as others have said, we all want the best for our babies and it's very easy to be sucked in by the advertising...companies charge what they are sure the customer will pay and as a first time parent you have no real feel for what you will actually need/use. As an example, there's a bucket-type bath you can buy for your baby, probably useful for the first six months or so (if that)....something we were seriously considering buying right up until we actually thought about it....:o

There was a great selection in Sainsburys Sydenham the other day - lovely colours, patterns etc. If I remember rightly they were only £8.

You can get lovely ones in TK Maxx
  • From my understanding Grobag designed and developed these bags and are accredited by SIDS.

I am using these with my second child and they are the only thing I will use, it stops feet getting stuck and also calms the baby down, as it is the only time my baby will put her feet down and not chew them!

Definitely use a lighter tog in the summer. With your baby due in September, a 2.5 tog, which is the maximum Grobag recommend is great for the first six months, which is when you will probably be ready for the next size then you can look for a lower tog.

One thing Grobag recommend in terms of the sizing, is that your baby shouldn't be able to get its head through the neck opening. So when it is popped up or zipped depending on the syle, baby should be able to wriggle, but not let its head go in side the bag.

We would swear by Growbags (or whatever brand you go for). We started off with sheets and blankets, this lasted two days, after that junior went into a growbag and 2 years later we still use them. She feels content and secure in them and it's part of the bed time routine.

My advice would buy two of each tog so when one is being washed you can stick little one in the other, plus when the inevitable happens in the middle of the night and baby is sick on the grow bag you have a spare to put them in.

The other bonus is that these bags stop them climbing out of the cot so easily, although our little one can walk at quite speed in her grow bag when we lift her out of the cot.
