reporting a listing - how do i pick the right category?!

i want to report an item which claims in the listing that the seller cannot be held responsible for anything lost or damaged in the post. clearly that's just a blatent lie and a way of taking advanatge of buyers who don't know to start a dispute! anyway, i can't seem to pick an appropriate category from the many irrelevant ones that ebay tries to make you select from.... any suggestions?

Im not sure there is a relevant category and even if there was one eBay would be unlikely to act. In any case such terms are useless and would have no effect in stopping a chargeback for non receipt.

I'd agree with F.Fay - it's a listing policy breach, subcategory inappropriate seller terms.

because my OH tried to buy me something for christmas on ebay, but it got lost in the post. the seller tried to tell him that it was not their responsibility and to wait until they heard back from the post office (which, conveniently would have been after the maximum time to open an ebay/paypal dispute). luckily he told me about it, and armed with information from this board, he got his full refund.

other people won't know - and it's unfair and wrong, and takes advantage of buyers with little experience. sellers like that give everyone else a bad name!

Could you not just message the seller and explain to them they're breaching eBay policy by explaining that in the listing?

And if they do say literally "...cannot be held responsible for anything lost or damaged in the post", is that not true? The Royal Mail are the ones who loose or damage things, and that's no one's fault other than the RM and not under the control of the seller. Whether you recieve a refund or not if it happens could be a different issue. Sure, looks bad, but could we not spend our time looking for people creating real problems on eBay (persistent non payers, multiple bid withdrawals, poor listing descriptions, shill bidders, etc etc)? A guy stating that they're not going to give a refund up easily in a listing is seems a better situation than them not mentioning this and people having problems later. Personally I'd rather know this in the listing than find out later :)

Just avoid these sellers - it suggests that if something should go wrong they're going to very difficult about it.

I do agree with one part of your statement, I prefer to know in advance if a seller is TSFE and likely to give me grief so I can avoid them. These seller terms instantly mark such sellers for me.
