Heating an attic bedroom

The central heating doesn't go up there but, come the winter, it will need heating or at least will need to have the worst of the chill taken off at night.
There will be no use during the day.
Can anyone help me to work out the cheapest way to heat with electricity? It has to be cheap to purchase/install and run.
TIA

There is no cheap way to heat with electricity supplied at 'normal' rates - you get the warmth you pay for.
It may pay you to look at changing to Economy 7 electricity and get a night storage heater. However bear in mind that your daytime rates are slightly higher.
Depending on your tariff the break even point is between 30 and 40% of your electricity consumed on Economy 7.
Or you could look at the cost of extending your CH and getting a radiator installed - assuming you have gas fired water filled radiators.0 -
I was hoping for some idea of what kind of electric fitting would give me the most heat for my buck.
Are those halogen lamp things any good? Are oil filler radiators better? That sort of thing.
The central heating is too old and the expansion tank is too low to heat the attic and I can't afford to replace it.

Is there no chance of getting the heating up there?
We lived here for 14 years with no heating in our attic room believing we could not heat it except for by electric heaters. When my daughter wanted to move up there we asked a builder/plumber to come and have a look and with little effort they extended the central heating up there. We needed a new pressure tank (or something or other) upstairs but that went in the tank room in place of something else so it was no problem.
Edit: I got interupted mid post and you have now posted again. I will see if I can find our bill for the work, but it didn't cost much at all. Up until then, we were using an oil filled radiator to take the chill off and wearing woolies if we wanted to be in there.0
