I think walterboy and parsimonious are one and the same, trolling on here for a reaction and am i the only one to think the OPs post is pure fiction? just to get a reaction.
the lurch - i thought exactly the same thing when i read the post!

I thought the same about 'thelurch' and 'plzhelpmesave!'. Similar join dates, similar post counts, same use of 'i' instead of 'I' (probably illiterate).

lol, whoever he is he was in the right and Tesco should have honoured the DTD policy.
As he has had the DVD's refunded there is nothing more he can do, he should have kept them and spoke to CS who should have ensured he got DTD.
I remember the good old days of XBox misprice wheni bought 4 and got all fully refunded....the reason for scrapping their refund policy was because they can not get the prices right on their stock.

    Why did you want 4?
  • Thanks for the posts.I was surprised by the amount of cynicism on this site but I imagine after 300 to 5000 posts you have seen it all and done it all.....

For the record Parsimonious and I are NOT one and the same and I have all the receipts so it isn't a work of fiction.

I guess in the cold light of day it was a futile action but you live and learn.

The way I see it is that Tesco are quite happy to overcharge thousands of their customers every year through their own incompetence. They advertise a policy of dtd if overcharged but refuse to implement the policy if it suits them. I applaud anyone who is prepared to take advantage of Tesco dtd especially when faced with a less than co operative customer service.

    Hi,

I don't want to clutter up the actual misprices thread so thought I' ask my question in a new thread.
So, I'm a complete beginner at this and would love someone to explain very simply how it works.

    many thanks

So start a whole new thread on it instead cluttering up the grabbit board?

And it's in thw wrong place:rolleyes:
Why not just ask in the Tesco's thread?

Sorry if I've offended you. I don't believe it's in the wrong place and the first thing it says on the misprices thread is that it's for misprice details only, therefore not questions or chats.

Hopefully there are some folks out there that could post more constructive replies that answer the question

Just a query Zebedy but haven't you also questioned this on another forum today in the same context?

The first post on the Tesco thread by Redfox is as follows

    For new readers:

For clarification SEL stands for Shelf Edge Label

the Tesco policy on signs instore is :-

"And if things don't add up ~ In the unlikely event you are charged a higher price than on the shelf or the product we will refund your money and you can keep the product"

Compare the price per kilo on the pack with the shelf edge label price per kilo and where there is a difference the lowest price must be charged.

Thanks to !!!!!! Dastardly for providing the following information from the DTI website which summarises consumer rights in relation to misleading price indications:

Q1. I was charged a different price for an item at the till to the one that was shown on the shelf, what are my rights?

The Consumer Protection Act 1987 makes it an offence for a trader to give a consumer misleading price indications. In the first instance speak to the trader about the differing prices, if you are not satisfied with the response, contact your local authority trading standards department who enforce the Act and who could bring a prosecution against the trader.

    Cheers
    L

    Hi,
This is the first time i've ever looked at the Tesco misprices thread so haven't questioned it before in any context.

Thanks for your reply nuttyrockeress (cool name!) but what I'm really asking is how do you actually go about doing it, in a practical sense.
So, someone posts misprice details in the thread and then you go to your local Tescos to follow up. Do you actually buy the item and then go to Customer services with your receipt, or do you point out the mistake at the till to the cashier etc etc.
Also do you just get the difference or do you get the whole amount back.
The thread looks very useful but doesn't seem to explain it for a newbie that isn't really aware of the whole mispriced concept etc.

It looks to me like a bit of maney can be made doing this and reducing the cost of grocery shopping but i just want to be sure I understand it fully before i go ahead.

step 1. buy item at wrong price
step 2. walk to customer services
step 3. say "I've been charge too much for this"
step 4. wait for customer services person to verify you have paid too much
step 5. point out you should get double the difference back*
step 6. hold out hand and wait for money to be placed in palm.

*Double the difference (aka DTD). If you buy an item and the price says it costs 50p, but you are charged £1.. the difference between the 2 amounts is 50p, you would therefore get double the difference (£1).
