tesco mispricing

I'm after some advice here. This morning I went to Tesco's and bought some DVDs,at the checkout two of them were mispriced. Both of them scanned at £15 when they should have been £8 and £9 respectively.I queried the price and the checkout lady got one of her supervisor to correct the transaction.
I was sort of aware of a policy regarding these situations and enquired that 'don't you have to refund me the difference and charge me the correct price,''I was told that that policy had changed.'
I went on my merry way but decided to give customer services a ring after seeing on this site that was in fact double the difference on mispriced goods,The customers service confirmed this information when I contacted them and said come in and resolve it.
I went in there about a hour and a half ago to resolve the matter expecting to get £26 the relevant amount according to their policy but I was told that the matter had been sorted out previously and they would not honour it.Even though I I was the one who queried it in the first place.
Needless to say I was a little disgruntled to prove a point I went to the DVD aisle and grabbed all the copies of the said DVD and went to checkout(the stock of the other DVD was empty). There I was charged £165 for 11 DVDs when the actual price for the 11 should have been £88.So 12 hours after my first visit the price was still wrong.
I then went straight to customers services where I alerted the to the problem. This threw the customers service rep and a line manager in to a bit of a tail spin as it's a fair bit of money for a silly mistake.
Eventually the store manger came down and we discussed the situation .His reply was that I had abused Tesco's goodwill (is there such a thing?) and would only honour the DTD on one DVD.I argued that it is your policy so why are you not abiding by it.
We were and loggerheads and he suggested that I take it up with head office (not very helpful at 21.00 on Sat).
I had to go to work so I refunded the |Dvds and got the DTD on one DVD.
I intend to write a letter to Tesco's but would be interested on your views.
Cheers Walterboy

If they corrected the price before you paid then you weren't charged £15, you would have been charged the correct price so no reason for any DTD refund.
The ones you bought later you were charged £15, so entitled to a DTD refund. But you bought multiple copies of the same item to take advantage/abuse the DTD refund policy.
Tesco reasonably offered a DTD refund on one, and a refund on the rest.0 -
I agree with Sooler, you were blatantly taking the p*** with the second purchase, and it is people like you that will get the whole policy scrapped.
Maybe you should think before ruining things for everyone else?

I think you have behaved reasonably. They used to give you the item free and a full refund. Now, they are supposed to give double the difference between the marked price and the charged price. I applaud you for asserting your rights - Tesco have behaved appallingly. A lot of the Dvds come in pre-priced and staff do not check that the marked price is the correct price. I hope you get a satisfactory resolution - you are in the right!0 -
Personally, I'd have got them to call HO CS when they refused to honour it when you went back, then they'd have been told to have given you DtD.
What were the DVD's?"Life was easier when I didn't have a clue"0 -
I think walterboy and parsimonious are one and the same, trolling on here for a reaction and am i the only one to think the OPs post is pure fiction? just to get a reaction.0

I'm just glad you had the time to go back a 2nd time, and were so worried by this.
Personally I have better things to do with my time than worry about MrT's and DVD prices. :cool:Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

Think the same but not to worry they'll always be someone who reads your post and replies to the OP anyway/;)0 -
lol, whoever he is he was in the right and Tesco should have honoured the DTD policy.
As he has had the DVD's refunded there is nothing more he can do, he should have kept them and spoke to CS who should have ensured he got DTD.
I remember the good old days of XBox misprice wheni bought 4 and got all fully refunded....the reason for scrapping their refund policy was because they can not get the prices right on their stock. There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.0 -
