Giving something back...re Broadband
Am a newcomer to this site, but have already saved a small fortune with the Maxim 24 issue for 10 quid, the 18866 telephone switch, and the Powergen online tariff for duel fuel.
I've been scratching my head trying to give something back, and have just come up with this unintentional one...
I've been a BT Yahoo Broadband customer for some time (3 years). I'm currently using their 1mb service and its costing me a cringeworthy £30 per month, and they've now placed LIMITS on the service
On another thread here someone posted re ADSL 'for less' at £15 per month for unlimited usage (albeit 512k speed)
So, I rang BT to get the migration sorted and they were having none of it. So keen were they to keep my custom, without question or prompting from myself, they have reduced my package to £23.99 per month, a saving of £72 per year! (Given its twice the speed and only 8 quid more, at this point it became not worth the hassle moving!)
Clearly, as other threads show, this is equally applicable to Sky, phone companies etc, but if you're a long term BT Broadband customer, try them on 08000852819
Please make sure, though, that your intent to leave them is as pure as mine was.
Alternatively, of course, adsl4less would appear to be Britain's cheapest 512k service.
On a personal level, it looks like I may have Britian's cheapest 1mb service, though I'm told BT are going to get aggressive on pricing in the new year anyway
Hope this helps someone/anyone...
