Nationwide internet banking card reader - issues on firefox web browser

  • I posted a message to Nationwide regarding this via my online banking account. Their response:

    Dear Mr Ludwig,

    Thank you for your enquiry.

We are currently experiencing a temporary Internet Bank fault which is affecting members attempting to complete Card Reader Security with Firefox 2. Our Technology department are aware of this problem and are currently investigating the issue as a high priority.

As a temporary measure if the blank screen occurs please carry out the following procedure:

Right click on the blank part of the window, a menu will appear, select "This Frame" then a sub menu appears, select "Reload Frame".

Alternatively if possible you may wish to use Safari as an alternative browser.

I apologise for any inconvenience this matter may cause you.

    Regards, etc.

I'll go with the reloading fix for now, as it does work.

I had problems with FF2.0.0.14 & NW vbv system, in my case, I setup 3 online payments to go out on various days, each time, I had to use the card reader, and each time I got a confirmation screen telling me all was well & the payment would go out as setup. today I found out NONE of the payments went out.
I retried using IE7 for one of the payments & I look forward to seeing if this one completes.
I sent NW a message about it tonight, and I lokk forward to their reply.

I do hope NW will reimburse me for any charges I incur due to their crap IT dept.

Check the 'Payments Due' screen for future-dated payments as soon as they are set up. Once they appear there there is no reason they should not leave on the date.

At present. They are too cautious with the use of the card reader. Barclays, for instance, uses it to sign on and thereafter only uses it when you first set up a 'new' payee. Once done, the details are 'stored' somewhere and you can make further single payments to the same account over and over again...
