I could muddle through but to be honest i want to clear it asap, so if they could offer me a reduced amount that would be great. I deserve it really as the amount of charges they have hit me with over the years is ALOT, and i have never tried to get my charges back, same with my Barclays current account.

I have just read up on F&F settlements on the National Debtline website, and now i'm convinced you can't offer a F&F settlement on an account thats not with a DCA. Anybody that has not been on the National Debtline website have a look, so many helpful letter templates.

It might be worth your while if you have been charged extortionate amounts

I may have made a slight mistake looking at other threads... I discovered an Argos sale one and now REALLY want these: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/zone/priceCutsZone/partNumber/4429876/C$PRICECUT/1/Trail/zone%3DpriceCutsZone.Price+Cuts%3EC%24cip%3D1500011357.Personal%2Bcare%2Band%2Bbathroom%3EC%24cip%3D1500011365.Hair%2Bcare%3EC%24cip%3D1500011366.Straighteners.htm

They're half price at the moment, and I've been wanting some new straighteners for a while. I say that because I have wavey hair naturally which looks awful, and whenever I use mine it always seems to develop a bit of a wave before I wash it as they don't heat up enough. My sisters get hotter than mine and work amazingly, but she won't let me use hers :(. I wouldn't care if my hair was in reasonable condition but I've wrecked it with all the dye and if I go out without straightening it I really do look like I'm homeless... If I had two pairs I could leave one at my boyfriends and avoid having to go out without straightening it...

Should I take the plunge and buy them, or am I being stupid?

I thought about it tatty, wrote out the letters ready to be sent off then i noticed people were having their bank accounts closed with no notice, and i don't want that happening as i like banking with Barclays. I was awful keeping up with payments so i deserved the charges they added on, but i don't agree with the stupid amounts they charged.

Nichelette I have those hair straightners, i'm actually very impressed with them. If you can afford them i would say get them, thats a great price for a good pair of straightners.

Honest opinion Nichelette... If you really want them so desperately I would get them. It will make you happy and when you're happy (not personally) you're more motivated. and all work and no play and all that. I'd get them, they're a bargain at ha;f price. I've just been checking to see if you could get them through pigsback or quidco, but unfortunately not. You could check on ebay to see if anyone is selling a new set on there but I doubt they would be any cheaper really. Yes I'd go for them as long as it doesn't jeopardise your payments to other creditors or if you can ofset the expense in some way.

Well my OH is snoring in the other room so I had better wake him up and drag him off to bed so he can sleep properly and I am quite shattered myself today. Had some good sales on ebay though-sold well over £100 worth of stuff today, so I'm a happy bunny tonight. Just a shame I am still going to have to ask OH for some cash to fill my car up in morning!! never mind, when my payments clear I'll be fine :)
    Goodnight all.

Thanks hayley and cath, I've reserved some which will be kept until the end of tomorrow. I have a check up thing at 2 tomorrow because I've had to re-register with my doctors so I think I'll walk into town tomorrow after that (that alone will take me an hour :-/) so I won't have to pay for unnecessary travel... I want to look presentable when I get interviews so I think they probably are a worthwhile buy, I think I just wanted someone to confirm it :)

Just before I disappear off up to bed... At the moment it costs me £12 to have each of my daughter's hair cut (no wash or restyle, just a trim) and it cost me £22.00 for a wash trim and blowdry-no restyle in with that. At the moment I have been making sure my girlies have their hair trimmed and i have been leaving mine... :( I moved her a couple of years ago and haven't found a hairdresser I really like). Back home (where I used to live it was so much cheaper and I loved the way my previous hairdresser cut my hair etc, so.. should I just accept that the local hairdresser is the best I should aim for or should I spend alot more to get a 'decent' hairdresser to tend my locks or should I try to find a local college, hairdresser training thing looking for models in the hope I will have a good hairdresser at a cheaper price-your thoughts please. I do need to do something soon, my hair is a wreck and there has been so much stress in my life lately (I colour my hair myself) the roots are coming through and there is so much grey I can't believe it and I'm not 40 yet!!!
