This is similar to the issue of the BT light user scheme. Those who were on the light user scheme got changed to "option 1" earlier in the year, it was only having heard a report from the telecom watchdog that I called BT and got them to put our light user scheme back on to our bill. Definitely another example of where the consumer has to beware!0

Another time-honoured BT problem goes like this. Your phone line goes wrong. You report it to them. They offer to divert all your calls to your mobile free of charge while you wait for the line to be repaired. You say yes. When you get your bill, you find that (a) they've charged you for the diverted calls, at the standard mobile rate, and (b) they've not given you the compensation you're entitled to, i.e. one month's line rental for each day your line was down. When you ring up to complain they apologise and agree to make an adjustment to your next quarterly bill. If you make a fuss they agree to take it off your current bill.
They did this to me a few years ago and have just done it to my elderly parents. Shameful behaviour of the sort you'd expect from a small cowboy outfit.Eh?? I give up!! Towel is getting thrown in here!

And another – you phone up 150 to complain about something to do with your account. You negotiate the menu system and, eventually, get to speak to a human.
You explain the problem and, after a while, the call reaches what the BT ‘agent’ considers to be the ‘too difficult to deal with’ stage – so you’re cut off.
You phone again to complain about the original matter and about being cut off. The new ‘agent’ denies all knowledge of your earlier call (although they have precise records) but still cannot deal with your original problem so offers to put you through to someone else. That someone else does (surprise) deal with your problem.
Months later, you receive your bill and notice a strange and expensive ‘Operator Connected’ call. Being an MSE junkie, there’s no way you would ever allow connection of such a call so you phone to complain and discover that the number to which you were connected is a BT Call Centre’s geographic number in Wales – so you know that the offer to connect you months ago was really an offer to rip you off.Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").0 -

Your household is not eligible for the Light User Scheme if you have:
a telephone service provided by another supplier, either directly or indirectly
mobile telephone service
more than one telephone line at the same or different address, for example at a holiday home
a broadband (ADSL) line
a line used exclusively for a burglar alarm (this does not include ‘lifeline’ alarm systems which are also used as telephones)
an ISDN line or business lines
a payphone line, residential BT rented cardphone or temporary line
a line with incoming calls barred (i.e. your line only allows outgoing calls)
an incoming line only because you owe money to BT
BT Pay & CallTheir - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").

I called BT earlier this week to cancel my calls package which included caller ID... and now it's gone completely!"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0

Any idea if NTL are going to follow suit and offer free Caller ID?0

I called 150 and requested my free caller id - fine said operator, will also ad dyou to tps as part of the 'privacy' option. I already have tps of course so just said ok. Week later got leter from bt - caller ID will be 1.75pm. Called 150 to find out what is going on, told as already have tps am not eligable for free 'privacy' package so was just given caller id at 1.75.
Pretty cr*p as (a) sounds crazy - could I just deregister with cps and take privacy package and (b) was not told on sign up that this was the case and that I would be charged.
Is this really correct or was it just the operator mucking up?I think....0 -
I would just dial the freephone number 0800 916 5544 and when prompted do you want to register for TPS, select the option for no. That should workmichaels wrote:...Is this really correct or was it just the operator mucking up?0
