Update on the mysterious seedling!
Still not managed to positively ID it although I now know it's not an angelica, the leaves are different to my other one. It's grown a fair bit in the last 2 weeks so may be easier to identify now, hopefully!

Btw, not a single one of my rocket seeds germinated in this pot either! Maybe it's a rocket fuelled plant :rotfl:“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
I'd say it is a dahlia.Jasmine0

Yes, it's a dahlia. Give it a pinch and you'll have a nice plant.0

Now that is a huge surprise if it's a dahlia as the only one I have in my garden is a Bishop of Auckland which I got last summer, and is currently residing in another pot just starting to come through. The stems of this one are a deep crimson/purple too, unlike the mystery plant, so it doesn't appear to even be the same species

I'll certainly continue growing it as I'm intrigued to see the outcome if/when it flowers. Will keep you all updated on it's progress

Do you mean pinch out the growing tip?“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Whilst on the subject of identifying plants, I've just uploaded a couple of clearer pictures of a mystery tree that appeared in my garden last summer! I've a feeling it might be a mountain ash but would like someone more knowledgeable than me to confirm please :A
