OK, so there has been much huffing, puffing, over-dramatic sighs and swearing  but the old carpet is up and in the back of my car to go to the tip, the sanding is finished and the ceiling is currently being painted  :rotfl: :T
Part of the reason I'm pushing him to get on with it (apart from the furniture now being out of the room for a month and tripping on stuff in the hall etc and it being 6 months since he was supposed to start it), is when I bought the carpet for the other bedroom at the beginning of October, I also bought the carpet for the spare room and the living room at the same time. It's a little local company and the owner said he would store it. At the time, he said 'it will be (collected) before Christmas, won't it?' and I said - yes , of course
I have this horrid feeling the fitters will go to the shop and they'll have sold it..........:o"Stay Wonky":D
