Credit check for replacement card from MBNA?

Making a request online will not necessarily avoid a search being made, since you agreed they could when you signed the credit agreement.
MBNA do make 'ad-hoc' searches of your credit file throughout your relationship with them...I've had several (for no 'apparent' reason).
It's probably these 'ad-hoc' searches that have resulted in many cardholders seeing their APR's climb above 30%.
Thanks for the info, I think that naive is my middle name sometimes, but it makes complete sense for them to try and screw even more money out of us if possible! The sooner the card is paid off, the better. :mad:0 -

Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -
Where will you be going down the town or stay over G/H??0

That happened to me with mbna a few years back. On attempting to close a Homebase credit card, they managed to persuade me to keep it open but they'd need to send me a new card. They started asking about my income, etc. I refused to disclose this information. She then said without this info they would not be able to send a new card, so I told them to stick it!0

In December I was asked some security questions before they issued a new card but nothing about income....they also checked re employment details but I don't recall seeing an actual check on the file. For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... This would probably happen with most if not all banks under certain circumstances. E.g. If you've had a dormant account for quite some time and then want to use it again, your circumstances may have changed considerably from the information you gave when opening account which would obviously have a bearing on limits / APR etc, or even if they are prepared to lend to you anymore0
