Inland Revenue-WTC/CTC

I would also say make copies of everything that is sent to them -
I've had problems with getting through etc and my claim is not complicated.0 -
can you chose? i get some in my pay packet, but some in to my bank. i'd rather get it all together.
Sorry for delay just caught up with the thread, unfortunately you now have to claim it seperately as WTC or CTC and it get paid into the bank. What I meant was I used to get a higher personal allowance which meant I paid less tax on my wages. I now pay tax on all but £40 per year due to company car etc.0 -
Oh yes the WTC/CTC definately belongs in the Vent Board!
For the past 8 months I have been (unsuccessfully) trying to appeal against an overpayment "award". I apparantly owe them £2000 and how this has happened I have no idea as I've been in the same job for the past 10 years!
I've sent in an appeal, a few months later I've received another form to appeal again in more detail, I've filled that form in, then received a form saying we've reviewed your "award" please study carefully and if you wish to re-appeal you can do so, the revised "award" was exactly the same (!) so I've had to start the process again! AGGHH! 8 months later and I'm still in the same position of being £200 a month worse off than I was a year ago.
Good luck to anyone who manages to appeal!0 -
Forget ringing them if they mess up contact your MP straight away.
From my experience they always respond to emails.

Had another Tax Credit notice today. Having phoned them at my expense the other week when they said they were re-instating my award. On the phone they were very cryptic but it seemed they wanted to know my income for last tax year. They've already had this - you can hardly change your income for the previous year!
Now it's down to £2000+ owing. No breakdown of how they've reached that conclusion. I've written to them asking for a breakdown. I mean - it's bl00dy November and the tax year starts in April, they should have sorted claims out by now. And they shouldn't be sending people tax credit awards then turning round and saying that it's wrong every couple of months. >:(Torgwen.....................

Just for the record.... I am not one of the poorly trained or badly paid!!! I am lucky enough to be very well trained, multi skilled and been around long enough to be on the top of my pay scale! I did not take your comments personally at all... as you say it is the vent board and I was speaking for the others not so fortunate or experienced at the receiving end of grief
This is nothing personal SarahLouise but everytime I have spoken to anyone at the Inland Revenue they have always come across as very knowlegable understanding and professional................................I have put my clock back....... Kcolc ym0 -
P-R,
Are you getting speaking to the IR re Income Tax confused with the mess that they are making of the new Tax Credits and all the new staff that are dealing with it so that no-one on tax credits can be sure of their actual income from day to day? Even if you are capable and sure of doing the complicated calculation involved in doing this you can't be sure IR will get it right!

Aaggh, my partner changed jobs in June, informed Inland Revenue of this. There were 2 changes to be made 1. change of job and 2. slight change in wage.
Since then he has received nothing that he is entitled to because of a "computer glitch", Inland Revenue are claiming that because 2 changes were made on the same day the system hsa bodged up. It shows his new place of work, but also shows that his tax credits should be paid to him via his old employer.
We are ringing every week to check on the progress only to be told it is in the hands of the IT department and that they can't help any further at this time and to check again in 7-10 days.
I have just had a 2nd baby and have informed them, have been assured that this will go through without a problem and that I will recieve an updated award within 7 days, this being 2 weeks ago.
What a farce
Lisa
