It's by no means going to be 'easy' the DVLA will still argue (as they have done with mylove4ever) that the vehicle keeper must chase the DVLA for a letter of confirmation of change of ownership/scrapping within 4 weeks. Even though there is nothing in the law which says they must do this, and no time limit is mentioned on the V5 instructions about chasing them.0 -
Hi can anyone help last year i had sorn my car off road then sold it to be scrapped i signed the V5C and unfortunatley was not in when he took the car. A year later i got a letter of dvla to sorn the same car i just thought it was an oversight so thought nothing more, till i got a letter of Philips bailiffs asking for £80 late licensing penalty. Ive spoking to the guy that took the car to be scrapped and told me he took it to an ATF site which are ment to inform dvla as they take the log book and are ment to send a certificate of de registered which they havent dvla say to send a letter in to appeal bailiffs say i cant the ATF site say they the car was de registered in Aug 2009 a year after it was taking away but they still havent sent any proof to dvla or me, bailiffa chasing me for the £80 but ive got an appointment on tue to see a solicitor please any advice or help will be greatful0

Just received another letter from DVLA, still insisting i paid the £80 cos my name was still registered on the account as at the time the penalty was issued and are not ready to continue in exchanging communication by letters as this is not going to change the fact that i am responsible for the payment.0
